I would beg to differ; BIOS updates do fix a lot of issues, sometimes even Windows version compatibility!

Yes, it happens, but the error message the OP mentioned means Secure Boot or TPM blocked boot. If he disables these temporarily he should be able to boot from the USB in UEFI mode and proceed. The UEFI firmware version should not affect this. Also some BIOSes block booting from USB devices by default as a security measure. He should check the Security section or USB section to find it and enable booting from USB devices.

Did you notice any improvement in performance after you Clean Installed Win 11? I.e., after you got the Spectre all set up?

Not enough to have done it just for that. But I've installed and tested a lot of stuff I don't want anymore and it seemed like the best way to get rid of it. Also this particular laptop has a hardware issue in the power adapter or the motherboard sensors that throttle it to about 800Mhz when it is plugged in even though it works fine if it is rebooted on battery only. I just found a utility called throttlestop that can work around the problem so I'm setting it up to be useful again. I thought it was reasonably fast for its age (when on battery) even on Win 10.

My BIOS is HP's latest, but the suggestion to disengage TPM sounds like something I will try. I'll report back.

Indeed this is the case, and the final answer. I made a new Rufus Boot USB for GPT and UEFI and when both TPB and Secure Boot was disabled the USB booted normally. Eureka! Thanks spapakons!

I'm wondering how I can get this to work - maybe use a Macrium Reflect boot drive that has the Windows 11 install files added to it?
You could boot that macrium media and use the apply method. As long as the install.wim/install.esd is visible i..e on a disk that is attached

Optionally to avoid fiddling with commands, I made a little thing that could add winntsetup to the macrium ( or any similar pe )

➡️ add-to-wimv7.zip

add-to-wimv7 adjusted start position of just manager, linked bootice to pemenu

Hello @SIW2, thanks for add-to-wimv7.
What should be the location of diskgenius, macrium, partassist and backupper exe files?
Clicking on buttons diskgenius, macrium does not open the program.
These programs are installed in my pc.
Clicking on button Install, starts installation of Windows11( provided boot. wim in FAT32 and install. wim in NTFS partition.)
Click System Restore and click version to get build of installed Windows in any partition.
Thanks.

Hello @spapakons,
What if multi boot OS (Windows 10 Pro and Windows 11 )are installed on different partitions. I have four Windows on two different drives. Three on Hdd and one on SSD. From PEMenu of this tool, the drive letters when clicked on button System Restore are G,H, I, and J.
G: Windows 10 19041.4780(x64) HDD
H: Windows 10 19041.4780(x64) HDD
I: Windows 11 22621.3810(x64) HDD
J: Windows 11 26100.1591(x64) {SSD}
Thanks.

Hello @spapakons,
What if multi boot OS (Windows 10 Pro and Windows 11 )are installed on different partitions. I have four Windows on two different drives. Three on Hdd and one on SSD. From PEMenu of this tool, the drive letters when clicked on button System Restore are G,H, I, and J.
G: Windows 10 19041.4780(x64) HDD
H: Windows 10 19041.4780(x64) HDD
I: Windows 11 22621.3810(x64) HDD
J: Windows 11 26100.1591(x64) {SSD}
Thanks.
Replace C: with the respective drive letter, such as G:\Program Files

Thanks SIW2. This is more complicated than my pay grade can handle, but thanks for the suggestion anyway.

It is easy.

Just run the .cmd file

add-to-wim-run-as-admin.jpg

and it asks you to browse to the bootable wim file. For example browse to usb stick containing your macrium boot.wim. It will be in the sources folder on the usb stick.

That is all. The rest is automatic. Takes 2 or 3 seconds to do the adjustment

Hello @SIW2, thanks for add-to-wimv7.
What should be the location of diskgenius, macrium, partassist and backupper exe files?

The buttons will only work if the programs are present in the wim file.

you can tell by looking at pemenu.wcs with notepad

ITEM Button8,L8T246W155H30,BACKUPPER,EXEC %programfiles%\AomeiBackupper\Backupper.exe,%programfiles%\AomeiBackupper\Backupper.exe#0
ITEM Button81,L168T246W155H30,MACRIUM,EXEC %programfiles%\macrium\reflect.exe,%programfiles%\macrium\reflect.exe#51
ITEM Button9,L8T286W155H30,PARTASSIST,EXEC %programfiles%\AomeiPartAssist\partassist.exe,%programfiles%\AomeiPartAssist\partassist.exe#0
ITEM Button91,L168T286W155H30,DISKGENIUS,EXEC %programfiles%\diskgenius\diskgenius.exe,%programfiles%\diskgenius\diskgenius.exe#0

Thanks @SIW2,
%programfiles%\diskgenius\diskgenius.exe,%programfiles%\diskgenius\diskgenius.exe#0
In above line, should I change %programfiles% to J:\program files? ( if diskgenius is installed in J: partition?)
What exact change should be in pemenu. wcs?

J:\program files? ( if diskgenius is installed in J: partition?)

you could, but will it always be allocated J when you boot pe ?

Or you can include diskgenius in the wim ( it will be bigger of course)

just copy the diskgenius folder into add-to-wimv7\BIN\Program files

I would like to make bootable usb by your tool without bothering size of program files, as bigger as 128/256/512 Gb or even 1 TB.
YOUR SOFTWARE IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN SIZE OF USB.
Again thanking you.

Hello @SIW2,
Many thanks to add to wim software created &developed by you.
1. What is maximum size of boot.wim created after adding softwares to bin\ program files?
2. What is minimum ram on pc to boot maximum size of boot.wim ( like 3gb in size after adding full version minitool wizard, aoemi assistant, ease us partition, macrium etc.?
3. Why all programs added in program files do not run from dashboard in add to wim created bootable usb? This happens when added folder of software like minitool, ease us partition master, etc has size greater than 1 Gb.
4. Whst is #51 and #0 in pemenu.wcs when seen in "edit by notepad"? ( last character)
Thanks.
