I setup as a New Computer because the settings option didn’t have a way to uncheck certain settings, like Folder locations.

I have only just installed 25H2 but it seems fine to me. You can actually uninstall Copilot. I just ignore it really. Unless it's a copilot plus pc, it's just the same as before - no ai stuff apart from copilot. There was a setting about text and image generation (which I assume meant via copilot) but I just turned that off. I haven't noticed any new features particularly!

Yes. That is why I am content with 24H2. No Copilot to harass me because I uninstalled it. I've no idea what the advantage is with 25H2 but so far, from what I've been reading, it might be wiser to let the beta testers keep on testing. Can't think of one good reason to get 25H2 apart from ensuring that I keep on getting all those glorious updates that make my PC work so smoothly and *cough* efficiently. 😎

I have encountered this issue several times after a clean installation. The solution was to clear the TPM from within the BIOS before performing the configuration and clean installation.
For some reason, TPM retains the PIN data from the old installation, which causes a conflict even when using the same account and the same PIN.
This conflict only occurs when using safe mode, which makes it even more peculiar. :(

So far it just seems exactly the same as 24H2 :-) I hadn't planned to rush to upgrade, but as I had to install on a new computer, I initially upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11 via the installation assistant and it just put me on 25H2. In hindsight I could have done an in place upgrade with a 24H2 iso but I had enough hassles on 24H2 with various updates and worries, so personally I'm hoping for greater stability on 25H2! You can still uninstall copilot - no hassling. I would have preferred to upgrade to 23H2 which I liked a lot, but it's a bit pointless as it's about to become unsupported.

In the end, a clean install of 25H2 was faster and cleaner than my upgrade, I found which is why I clean installed in the end. Because it's a different machine. I had plenty of images for my old machine! This is the reverse of what I usually found on this model - usually it was happier with windows 10 installed first and then upgrade. It's the other way round now!

That is precisely what I do. The sysprep image is used as the base image with my apps preinstalled, Windows customized just how I like it, etc.

But then I simply drop a $OEM$ with all my system drivers onto my install media and that gets me ALL system drivers preinstalled during setup.

So, in summary, the sysprep image installs a copy of Windows all setup the way I like it, all I have to do is to add the drivers so that they get installed automagically during setup.

A variant on this is to create a custom iso from an existing installation and injecting drivers for a new device - great way to transfer os and all apps from one pc to a new one. This works well.

"Microsoft has confirmed that at launch, Windows 11 version 25H2 will not introduce any new features. Features that rollout to version 25H2 will also be made available on 24H2, as they both share the same platform release and servicing stack. That means 25H2 doesn't include any unique features that are exclusive to it."

This is maybe why I haven't noticed any difference! The new features haven't rolled out yet. But also the same new features will apparently be rolling out to 24H2.

So far there aren't any real advantages, but neither are there any immediate tradeoffs. 25H2 is simply an enablement package for 24H2 which bumps up the build number and enables features that were already present in the background of 24H2, but were disabled using CFR. Both are running on the same servicing platform or base. This is the same thing that happened for the 22H2-23H2 migration. Nothing really to be scared of as you can always return to a backup if something happens to go wrong.

And yes I see what @Scannerman means about more copilot! Mini copilots in many places - right context menu, notepad. All a bit pushy! But I can ignore. And thankfully Brink has a tutorial to remove copilot from the right click menu.

I still get the old right click menu sometimes and the new right click menu other times. I wish that could be fixed.

This is good to know. Will definitely want to keep WMIC. As for the rest of it as long as I have something that resembles a CMD window I should be good. Something I haven't looked for in 24H2 is msconfig. I'm on Win 10 right now and I know Win 10 has it. When I get back on the work station I'll check there too. Selective startup is a very handy tool so I can't see them disposing of it.

I just generate an autounattend.xml from here and it does 90% of the job for me. The rest is whatever apps I may need.
