You marked this as solved, is it? If not can you provide what application the error appears in? I see Google, so presumably a browser, but which one?

@neemobeer Yesterday I got this error. (At the same time I was on the phone with someone who gave me a fix) Today it's back. Running Chrome only,

Chrome Version 141.0.7390.66 Stable (64-bit) 25H2 (OS Build 26200.6728)

Presumably they told you to delete or rename your User Data? Also are you running any anti-virus/security software?

Yes, delete (in task manger) Windows Explorer... running Malwarebytes for 17 years.

You didn't mention it, but we assume you are seeing this error in Google Chrome?

The User Data folder is a hidden folder, you have to view Hidden Files and delete it in Appdata folder

@Spunk Thank you very much, I just had to bounce all over to get things done. I restarted several times with no errors. Today, Will post back if it happens again the next few days? Excellent instructions & thanks again !!!!!

It started again? The only changes made or added were Chrome updates, Malwarebytes updates, WD, updates. MS updates, I went thru the process posted in no. #6 above. Now it's gone - Profile Error - this post is 2 months old. Any thoughts on what triggers a Profile Error? Or any updates on preventing this error since October 2025? cheers....

@Spunk I saved the page [Profile Error Occurred Issue in Chrome] back in October. yesterday was the 2nd.. time it popped up. Happens when I start the laptop. and/or when Chrome opens up. (I have to pay more attn. to answer your question) But going over the steps in Fix #1 - It has not come back. thx. for the reply. cheers.....
