Question about DDR5 and timings
DDR5 timings, I'm sort of confused. Is DDR5 6000 36-44-44-114 slower than 30-38-38-96 for gaming using an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D? Looked on the web and it's all over the board.

What is the meaning of a RAM’s CAS latency or CL timing? Latency and RAM performance explained.

The one with the "lower" timings (at the same frequency), is the faster RAM.
But... the more you lower the timings, the more unstable the RAM gets.
So you want the RAM with the lowest timings, in the manufacturer's specs.
The manufacturer's specs are the guide.
When they manufacture and test RAM, they try to get the timings as low as they can, without causing instability.
They also charge a bit more for the RAM with the lower timings. Cause that RAM... is the "good stuff".

Yes, technically it is.
for gaming using an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D?
Doubt you would be able to prove it while gaming, it would be unnoticeable.

THIS... it might show a difference on a RAM benchmark, but it's not gonna make your gun fire faster, your sword swing faster or your car go faster.
If you want your games to go faster... you need to exercise your mouse finger.
Seriously... depending on the game, the only real way to make it run faster is a better CPU or better Video Card.

Lower primary timings will potentially get you higher minimum framerate, but doesn't affect maximum framerate. Lower timings yield lower memory latencies in general.

That answers my questions. Not really looking for speed in games as much as the knowledge of timings and stability. Many, many thanks. Please mark as solved.
