I'm just glad when I got this PC a couple years ago I opted to add additional RAM, upping it from 32 to 64. I think it was only an extra $75 at the time.

  • PCWorld reports on a Newegg bundle that offered 64GB G.Skill Ripjaws DDR5 RAM for $885 with a free Intel Core 9 285K processor worth nearly $600.

This particular bundle comes (or came) from Newegg, a seller that likes wrapping up commonly paired purchases at the best of times. Shoppers spotted a 64GB set of G.Skill Ripjaws DDR5 RAM (that’s two 32GB 6000 DIMMs) going for the terrifying sum of $885 USD. For comparison, I’m looking through my personal email at a receipt for RAM with identical specs from July of 2024 for $164. Pardon me while I scream into a pillow.

I am so glad I built my system in november 2024 and stuck with AM4.

64GB ddr4 was so cheap and I use a lot of virtual machines so I was like what the heck why not.

lol. I am now amazed. That same ram kit is worth half my pc build cost now.

I have a machine that had 128GB RAM but one of the DIMMs went bad. It does have lifetime warranty so I guess I should get that replaced. After all, a 32GB DIMM is worth some money these days.

I have heard multiple people try to claim their lifetime warranty and were instead giving the original purchase amount back instead of replacing the ram stick.

That wouldn't surprise me at all. Another trick they could try to pull is what is their definition of lifetime. I can't say it true for all life time warranties but a lot of them do have a time limit and/or very strict requirements.
