Hi all,
I've been having random freezer on my pc with no common application open (today was while playing Monster Train with Steam and Firefox open, the other day was with only Firefox open) and I've decided to investigate further this strange behavior.
Looking in the event logs I noticed a strange error

Italian: Rilevato blocco danneggiato sul dispositivo \Device\Harddisk3\DR3.
English :Bad block detected on device \Device\Harddisk3\DR3.

Event ID 7 with source "disk"

1776605784255.webp

Then, I ran Crystal disk and these are the results:

Should I be worried about "Media and Data Integrity Errors" and start looking for an NVME replacement ? This is my system disk.

Thank you in advance for your help :-)

It looks like you are right, this is a result of integrity error. I think it's an internal problem of your SSD: ADATA is not counted the best manufacturer of SSD devices, its TBW (Total Bytes Written) is usually noticeably less than SSD of high-end manufacturers like Samsung.

To better compare the data, I added current test results of my Seagate SSD, which also is used as system drive. As you can see, my SSD worked more than twice longer than your, but Media and Data Integrity Errors is zero. And even it's in good state right now, I try to make the full system backup regularly, a few days after every big system update, when I am sure that current OS condition is stable.

I'm already looking for a replacement for that unfortunately, but I just want to be sure that freezes are not software related

The findings so far were related to malfunctioning drive(s)
a) bad block(s)
b) file corruption
c) BSODs
d) newer BIOS available

Please perform the following steps:

1) Add WMIC:

DISM /Online /Add-Capability /CapabilityName:WMIC~~~~

2) Run Tuneup plus > post a share link

3) Enable regback:

4) Create a new restore point:

5) Make sure that images or share links are posted for all steps / tests.

And make sure that files are not cleaned during the troubleshooting.

6) Run Sea Tools Long generic test (all drives) > post images or share links

7) Run HD Tune (all drives) (old version) > post images or share links

a) Health

b) Full error scan

8) Open administrative command prompt and copy and paste:

chkdsk /b /v

Run these chkdsk switches on all drives using the syntax: chkdsk /b /v C: or chkdsk /b /v D: or chkdsk /b /v E: etc.

Make sure that the windows drive runs overnight while sleeping.

C:\WINDOWS\system32>chkdsk /b /v
The type of the file system is NTFS.
Cannot lock current drive.
Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another
process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be
checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)

Type: Y

Reboot as needed.

9) After completing all chkdsk /b /v run:

https://www.tenforums.com/attachmen...-files-use-bsod-debugging-chkdskfromevent.bat

Batch files for use in BSOD debugging - Windows 10 Help Forums

Batch files for use in BSOD debugging - Windows 10 Help Forums

Make sure that this runs only after the prior three steps for each drive.

10) Run HD Sentinel (all drives) > post images or share links (do not run until posting results for each steps 6, 7, 8 and 9)

Hard Disk Sentinel - HDD health and temperature monitoring
a) Overview
b) Temperature
c) SMART

11) Please make sure that all of the above steps are performed in sequence

These steps / tests can be performed overnight while sleeping:

a) Sea Tools Long generic test
b) HD Tune Full error scan
c) Chkdsk /b /v

12) The Versione/data BIOS American Megatrends International, LLC. 3.K2, 8/30/2024

Upgrade the BIOS to the most up to date non-beta BIOS.

13) After completing all of the above tests post a new V2 share link into the newest post

14) For any new BSODs > post a new V2 share link into the newest post

I strongly recommend using Hard Disk Sentinel as zbook mentioned for an instant analyisis of your disks, with a ahort comprehensible report right on the screen after you've launched it for each, including an attempted lifetime prediction. Good for SSDs too.

Your Crystal Disk screenshot only shows one disk. You have more than one disk in your PC. Reports on all needed. (Tabs down the side should let you select disks). Thanks.

As to whether your freezes are due to this solely and dicriminating between hardware and software- that's really difficult. A basic freeze typically generates no reports. Previously freezes have sometimes been attributable to PSU failure, for example. Determining whether it's O/S or hardware becomes a matter of patient elimination by experment and substitution where possible.

E.g. you can eliminate the O/S as a possible cause and either use a spare disk as a system disk and clean install on that, or boot your PC from a live boot disk and then run tests.

@zbook I've done steps from 1 through 5 and please find attached logs from tuneup.
I've also started chkdsk for all my drives and I'll post the result when finished. Also going to update the mobo BIOS.

I tried to run SeaTools but I got a reboot. I'll redo it after next reboot

I get these freeze issues occasionally with 11, I still have and use Windows 7 at times, never have had the freeze issues on 7. So with that said, I’m guessing it “could be” a Window 11 issue, I also use all Samsung drives. Personally, I just reboot, and it’s usually good until I’m ready to shut down.
