@PenPusher Yes, in the 90's I remember calling the phone company and asking if they had Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line available yet?
I was transferred through about 10 different levels of people. Ultimately, the 10th guy was amused that I knew what it was, and wanted to know how I knew about it. At the time there was a loop line length limitation from the nearest central office. I can't remember the distance, though I think initially it was something like 10,000 ft. The further away, the weaker the signal, the less speed etc. When I moved downtown, my signal was as if I lived at the phone company. Being always connected back in the 90's when many were still using dial-up definitely felt like a privilege. Those old Cisco 675 ADSL modems . . . HA! The memories . . .

The trick is to stay busy and keep moving. I'm surprise how much just building a PC can involve going up and down stairs, lifting, turning, reaching, etc. Many times I used to think my PC building days are about over and then something new comes up or I get a knock on the door from someone asking if I can fix something. I also do volunteer work for my community so this is enough to keep me running. :)

I retired early. 35 years of hauling backpacks full of laptops to and from customer's homes and businesses left me in very good shape for my age. I still like to fix things, too, but my days are mostly filled by getting stoned and playing video games now. To compensate, I still lug a backpack with about 20 pounds of laptop and related gear around, including my multi-tester and laptop repair kit about 10 miles a day. Instead of staying home, I go to coffee shops, and sometimes end up making a little extra cash helping random people with their computer problems, but doing it for a living no longer appeals to me. It's somehow always your fault when a customer breaks their system...

You forgot one very important muscle that also gets a work out. You're keeping you mind active.

I'm basically semi-retired (no longer working in an office, but getting paid to take care of my partner) and I stream so my mind stays active.

@MisterEd I agree with you 100%. No one owes anyone a reason why they choose to not want to have to setup and provide a Microsoft account for their own PC. No one owes anyone a reason whether they're enlightened enough to comprehend your logic or not.

I could provide dozens of reasons why a local account could be a wiser choice for most users but every one of them can be disputed. For that matter, there is nothing that can't be disputed. Even facts can be disputed. I'm quite sure more regular followers of this forum are well acquainted with my redundant claim that user preference prevails.
