Solved Regular BSODs

There was a new BSOD on Wed Dec 27 08:52:58.031 2023 (UTC - 6:00).

A Tuneup plus run was not displayed in the V2 as of 2023-12-30T08:35:59.

There is very limited drive free space.

There is no restore point.

1) Run Tuneup plus > post a share link

2) Upgrade the HP UEFI hardware diagnostics:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp149501-150000/sp149563.exe

3) Create a new restore point:

4) Increase the drive free space so that there is > 30 GB free space

5) Running WDV with various customized tests will be useful in ruling in / out a misbehaving driver.

Please start the WDV tool with the 3 customized tests displayed in the Ten Forums tutorial.

[ ] 0x00000010 I/O verification.
[ ] 0x00000200 Force pending I/O requests.
[ ] 0x00000400 IRP logging.

a) test all non-Microsoft drivers
b) test no Microsoft drivers

Plan to run the tool for approximately 48 hours with various customized tests.

If there is no immediate BSOD then open ACP and copy and paste:

verifier /querysettings

Post a share link into the newest post.

For any BSOD post a new V2 share link into the newest post.

All your crashes are the same which is a good sign, as it means there is a definitive issue here.

Do you use Microsoft Jigsaw?

Please remove it using the following PowerShell command from an elevated (admin) PowerShell window:

Code:
Remove-AppxPackage -Package 'Microsoft.MicrosoftJigsaw_8wekyb3d8bbwe' -AllUsers

If it exists under there, then you could try that. The reason for suggesting that the app is removed, is that it seems to be trying to run under a user profile which doesn't exist and that seems to be causing the crashes. All of the last 6 BSODs were identical.

Otherwise, please use:

Code:
Get-AppxPackage *Jigsaw*

Please post the output of the command in your next post.

What you say makes sense...Jigsaw was active (along with other open apps) when the recent crashes occurred. I've uninstalled Jigsaw from settings > apps, see here Doc3.docx

Jigsaw no longer appears in the list of installed apps...presumably the uninstaller has done the job. Should I reboot the computer now and do you then want me to run the command Get-AppxPackage *Jigsaw* ?

Please reboot your computer and then double check with the Get-AppxPackage command, you shouldn't get any results if the app has been completely uninstalled. If that is the case, then continue to use the computer as you normally would for the next few days.

Reboot done. Get-AppxPackage command returned zero results...see here Doc4.docx

By the way, there has been no crash since the last report. I'll check back in either at the next crash or in a couple of days.

zbook, thank you for your interest and offer for help but as you can see, I'm hopeful that this issue has been resolved...we will see over the next couple of days.

After uninstalling MS Jigsaw, I've had no problems. But, I had to try downloading Jigsaw from the store and guess what, BSOD. So I've uninstalled it again and will leave it uninstalled. No problems since! Can't see much point in pursuing this any further unless you want to drill down deep to identify the precise issue. Let me know what you think.

At least we've confirmed what the issue was, it seems that it is due a problem with how the app container SID for the Jigsaw app is being generated. Unfortunately, the only solution is to keep it uninstalled and report the issue to Microsoft.
