Where did you get the information you say is missing from? The latest KB5007651 Security platform version in the update catalog is 10.0.29510.1001. That is what is on my system.

You can download platform and signatures manually, run as admin, restart in a minute. It might fix it.

Your security platform version is up to date. It's the security intelligence that seems to have stopped. Check all the suggestions to manually update the security intelligence - even through defender itself via virus & threat protection, protection updates, security intelligence, check for updates.

I wrote an article about this for ComputerWorld. Last updated version came out December 2025. If you like, you can find it at How to manually update Microsoft Defender. My personal fave: in an elevated PowerShell, run Update-MpSignature. Also, you can check status by running Get-MPComputerStatus.

KB5007651 is the SecurityHealthUI app, also known as Windows Security Center.
Version 1000.27840.1000.0 was pushed today (Apr 8, 2026) which adds more details to your Secure Boot CA 2023 certificate status.

Unlike the release schedule for Defender platform (every month) and Defender definitions (every day), there is no timetable for KB5007651 updates. It's whenever a major change to Windows security features, including those outside of Defender, needs to be visible or configured from Security Center.

Defender seems to be downloading and installing its own signature updates instead of relying solely on Windows Update. When it does, they don't show in Update History, but they still show in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\ReportingEvents.log. Open the file in Notepad, scroll all the way to the right and look for "Current Channel (Staged)" or "Current Channel (Broad)". To see the most recent update, scroll all the way to the bottom.
