Repair you PC not working from boot media

I am aware of the problem as I've seen it posted here but can't find it!
I believe @garlin has the script to repair the boot media.

Tried it today and it just rebooted to Windows.
Posting here to save me looking!

Or, right click on the file, select Properties, and unblock.

I've done that with all of garlin's scripts.

In general, when your browser downloads a bare EXE or script file (not contained inside a ZIP file), it gets tagged by the "Mark of the Web".

And it needs to be unblocked using either method, as a security precaution. It's to prevent users from running random scripts, without first paying attention to where they originated.

OK I've run the script now and replaced the boot.wim in the sources folder.
I'll test it on next reboot at the weekend

The fact that adding two missing DLL's (which already exist in WinRE on the same ISO) fixes it, strongly points to an error in the build process.

Nobody at MS has gotten the clue that Repair My PC is broken across the different channels (according to @fg2001gf11F's testing). They're probably only testing the scenario where you're using from an existing install, instead of booting from the ISO/USB.

I don't see that option supported from an official MCT ISO.

If you're using UUP dump, they silently switched boot.wim to a modded WinRE image. Which means PITR may show up because that's part of the normal WinRE. The two WIM's are mostly alike, but what makes them different are the add-on files (like Setup.exe or the recovery tools).

In the UUP dump version, you don't need to run my script since their boot.wim is WinRE. The script is only needed for MCT ISO's.

I only use official MS ISOs. You fix script worked with the most current public build.
I see the same options as you show here. I guess PIT restore is only needed in recovery environment.
At least now if I need to boot to repair options I can.
Usually just boot Macrium recovery. Not that I need to do many recoveries (thank goodness!)

You do have a valid question. Normally, after you have a fully installed Windows, WinRE should be available to run PITR.

But in the case where an update borks both Windows and RE, you could be locked out but otherwise the disk files are fully intact. To recover, you would need an already prepared bootable WinRE (assuming you didn't have a full backup with Macrium/Hasleo). And maybe you didn't think ahead.

So it would make sense for the tiny bit of WinPE bloatage to add PITR moving forward.

I make a daily backup of my system drive so I can always roll back if anything goes south, so I don't need PITR active anyway
