Is there a way to see when and why it restarted?

Hey T2T. We've got to make sure your system is actually restarting? What makes you think your system has restarted? Is it just because you are prompted to sign in or are you getting other indications?
Once you sign-in are your windows still open?
Go to this page (Settings>accounts>sign-in options) and change the option marked in red to NEVER.

Mine also did that and I saw in Event Viewer an error similar to:

A fatal error occurred while creating a TLS client credential. The internal error state is 10013.
The SSPI client process is SystemSettings (PID: 19560).

I already had all TLS versions enabled in Internet Settings, so I run the commands in this site to patch the Registry and restarted. Now it seems to be fixed, my PC no longer restarts, although there are some similar errors in Event Viewer.

The commands in the article are to ADD the entries. Try running the commands in a Command Prompt as Administrator and then restart to take effect.

If you take your time, you can follow the steps below to double check that there are no unexpected restarts.

Event Viewer​


Open Event Viewer:

• Press Win + R to open the Run dialog
• Type: eventvwr.msc and press Enter
• Event Viewer will open

Where to Look:

• In the left pane, expand Windows Logs → System
• Scroll or filter for events around the time of the restart

Key Event IDs to look for:
  • There are images below to show you how to filter for restart events
    • Filter by the Event ID 41
  • 41 – Kernel-Power (unexpected restart, power loss, crash)
  • 1074 – Clean shutdown/restart initiated by a process (Windows Update, user, or software)
  • 6006 – Event log service stopped (normal shutdown)
  • 6008 – Unexpected shutdown (system didn’t shut down cleanly)
  • 6005 – Event log service started (system boot)

  • Use Filter Current Log (right‑click System → Filter) to narrow by Event ID (e.g. 41)
  • Cross‑check the timestamp with when the restart occurred
  • If you see Event ID 41 without a matching 1074, it usually means a crash, forced reset, or power issue
  • If you see 1074, the restart was intentional (update, user action, or software

Using Custom Views in Even Viewer​

  • Open Custom Views Administrative Events and look for Event ID 41
  • Please don't be alarmed by all the Red Icons ! Everyone has events like these.
