Hi there...

I've read & seen many YouTube videos where people explain how to restore a drive to an earlier version using a macrium image.

What if my drive dies & I have a backup image on another drive... How do I restore the image I have on a new drive?

Same as with any other imaging program.

the new disk and the disk containing the image file need to be connected to the pc

boot the programs recovery media , locate the image file, point the restore program at the new disk

You boot the recovery media (usually a USB drive), select the backup and restore it as if it was the same drive... the only time this would have any 'issues' is if restoring to a drive of a different size

Welcome to the forum.
You install the new drive, connect the drive where your image is stored, boot from your Macrium recovery (ie rescue) media, and restore your image onto the new empty drive. There's no need to initialize anything beforehand. Reflect handles that as part of the image restore process.

Edit: Wow, 3 people were answering at once. Sorry for the duplicate.

I just did the image restore from within the rescue windows. It's halfway now, but all looks good :) 👍🏽 Thank you all.
