In Win 10 when I Right click on a Zip file it shows at the top of the menu. In Win 11 I have to select Show more options to see 7-zip. Can this be fixed?

7-Zip was handy in Win 10 because sometimes just selecting the files and copying them and pasting into the other folder would pause and say "Try again?" Maybe i doesn't do this in Win 11

I use WinRar and I never got that Open and then WinRar , just another step one has to take. 🤷‍♂️

Try this:

  1. Open 7-Zip File Manager
  2. Navigate to Tools menu and then click Options to open Options dialog.
  3. Under the 7-Zip tab, make sure that Integrate 7-Zip to shell context menu option is selected.

It’s just a reddit post probably by some angry 7-zip user. It goes nowhere and the user has been deleted. However, you never know


This will literally never happen because the 7z lead dev is... eccentric, and holds some very weird beliefs/views.

The software is good but hes a nutjob who thinks he knows better than literally everyone else. For an example of this see his stance on signing the 7z installer, which he steadfastly refuses to do even when MS offered him a free lifetime signing certificate to do it.

I guess he'd rather his software remain one of the main vectors for malware infiltration than he would to act like an adult.

He's pretty infamous for his views and his actions (especially related to security) around 7z.

I just did a search around Igor Pavlov. I am guessing the above quote is hate based and crap.
Again, allegedly, there was a movement to boycott 7-zip because Ivor is Russian. I wouldn’t bother with the rabbit hole mate.

Hi, Gerry.

Try reinstalling 7-zip and do so by right clicking on the install file and choosing “Run As Admin”
You should be able to just reinstall over the current install.

Make sure you have the latest version:

But I have used the reg file in the tutorial that @glasskuter posted and removed "More Options".

Not playing the chicken little game here but I'd assure if 7-Zip is needed that a current copy has been saved. Think news about Kaspersky.

IIRC, 7-Zip is not a Store app and that's a requirement, among others, to integrate into the new context menu. It's intentionally difficult.

We'll be informing users about using the Shift key, and/or the various ways to enable the classic context menu, for the foreseeable future.

There's also the option to add your own items (in a submenu) via the Custom Context Menu app.

Also, BandiZip is an excellent free zip app that does integrate into the Windows 11 context menu.

You can use NanaZip, it was the first one integrated in Windows context menu.
