Ruined Birthday Rant

I decided to celebrate my 70th birthday by buying a E-Bike from Amazon. The expected delivery was from 10/10 to 10/14. That would have had it delivered just before my birthday, The last expected date was today. I went to work and got home a little after 3:00. Amazon still showed it out for delivery today from FedEx. I waited patiently for the delivery only to get a notice that the delivery was attempted at 5:44 tonight but was unsuccessful because the business was closed. I live in a house and not a business. My doorbell never rang and unless they knocked very quietly on the storm door, we never heard it. A knock on the door would have set our dog into a barking rage. It never happened. Thinking that the driver was full of it I figured that the driver was too close to the end of their work day and said the heck with it, tomorrow is another day. to my surprise I found a tag on my door from FedEx. They never rang the doorbell and if they knocked on the door it was very quietly. If not my dog would have started barking while also getting very excited. Because of that I'm going to spend tomorrow outside the front of my house waiting for the delivery. once I have my E-Bike in my possession I'm going to let the driver know just how much they ruined my birthday. I'll try to keep it clean but I can't guarantee that I can. After all I waited 70 years for this day only to be let down by a delivery driver that doesn't know how to use a doorbell or how to knock loudly on a door.

You stirred up some very fond memories of my paternal grandfather sitting in his rocking chair reading his latest Reader's Digest and smoking his pipe with either cherry or black cherry pipe tobacco. Sometimes he would smoke a apple flavored pipe tobacco. He did wait until he was in his eighties before bringing out the rocking chair.

I want to thank everyone for the Happy Birthday wishes. My electric assist bike did arrive on my birthday. By the time I got it assembled it was too dark to ride it. I live in a country area in my town and the road doesn't have a wide enough shoulder to safely ride at night. Especially when one hasn't ridden a bicycle in years. My motorcycle doesn't count.

Edit: it wasn't the same delivery driver but I did tell him what the other driver did and that I wasn't a happy camper.
