Run Macrium from Windows XP

Is there any downside to installing Macrium in Win-XP and doing disk backups and restores from there rather than backing up the active OS. Like using XP as Win PE to do Win-11 backups. Google says it's OK but maybe not ideal (whatever that means)

The more often I boot Win-XP the faster it loads but there's not much else to use XP for.

Would you setup your system to dual boot WinXP and Win11, and then reboot WinXP to run Macrium? Or how?

I don't see the point. I just have Macrium run my Win10 and Win11 backups off hours, like starting at 3am or 5am.
So the backups don't interfere with my system use at all.

I already have XP as a boot option and was only going to use it for total disk imaging not incremental or differential backups. I only do manual backups and use AOMI bachupper for email and documents etc

Why not just create a 2MB partition on one of Data disks, Copy everything from USB to this partition then whenever needed, boot it from Boot Menu. Boot much faster than USB and don't have to carry it around. As shown below. I can boot Linux and 3 different Winpe's: WinXpe, Windows Installation and Macrium from Boot Menu.

That would be on the rescue media which is on a bootable thumb drive which Ive never needed to use.

I was just thinking of this, I might even have a spare 120GB SSD with nothing on it that I can use. I also have a 180GB laptop hard drive. Ive never had two boot partitions on a single drive before so I'll need to read up on it. Is that using Windows Boot manager or what? Or put it on my 2T internal backup drive

but Macrium old version (32-bit) does right job on XP. Present Macrium (64-bit) cannot. crashing or freezing-up.

FYI. my XP is using Macrium below. (there are Windows 11/10/7/XP in my local networking)

I thought of that before I asked 🙃 It's all just for the exercise. XP is already on my machine on it's own small SSD and boots from the BIOS. I can either use it for something or unplug that drive or wipe it and use the drive for recovery media. I kept XP so I could use Symantec's WinFax Pro but I have not sent a fax to anyone in a couple of years. That SSD is too small to use for storage

Interesting,

So, you still own a phone landline and run a phone modem?

I was using WinFax until phone modems became obsolete.

I have a "copper wire" landline still and a US Robotics PCI Modem and two landlines back in the day but now only one landline
