Safeguard hold preventing update to 24H2

Hi guys. I wanted to update to 24H2 and joined the Insider Program and Release Preview builds. The 24H2 update is displayed but cannot be updated immediately.



Upon clicking Learn More open the webpage with this message:


I have googled about it and it could be caused by incompatible/older drivers? I don't want to clean install and would like to update through Windows update.

Anyone has faced this issue?

Not with 24H2 yet, but yes. My 23H2 upgrade was held up because of an Intel audio driver kerfuffle. Once that was addressed, I was offered 23H2. Incidentally, I upgraded an identical machine manually, and I had all kinds of bluescreens. So the safeguards are nice.

I miss the days where, Microsoft didn't do this "rolling out" of new Feature Updates.
This new, improved (NOT), phased roll out just complicates things.

Back in the days when ships were wood and men were iron... MS would release a Service Pack, and we would install it.
There wasn't 6 months to a year of ifs and maybes.

I'm not enthused with the Insider program either.
Has anyone received paychecks for doing Microsoft's testing for them?

I think we all need to... "just say NO" to Microsoft.
If we don't "just say NO", Microsoft is going to keep using us, and NOT paying us for the work.
And... it will probably keep getting worse.

Back in the early 2000's we should have "just said NO" to DLC in the gaming world, too.
But that's another can of worms entirely.

Or if one says "yes" one should image his system daily. I like to dabble a bit, but problems I've read from insiders here made me realize I don't have the stamina to be an insider. I'm just not that curious anymore. Change will reach me sooner or later.
Besides that, I doubt very few of the people jumping out for the latest and greatest even provide any feedback to MS at all.

By selecting the option to Learn More, you will be taken to a page offering a customized summary of any safeguard holds affecting your device.

I already checked that page. As i mentioned in the original post, it doesn't give any details of what is causing the hold, thus asking here.

An update if anyone else has this issue.

After not being able to update for so long, i decided to do a clean install and downloaded the 24H2 ISO from Microsoft. After I ran the setup from the ISO, it asked if it should check for updates before starting. I accepted it and it proceeded to download and check compatibility. For some reason after this, my Windows update notification update popped up saying 24H2 can now be installed directly from Windows Update.

Since i am already planning to clean install now, i will do that. But doing the above step fixed the original issue and can install 24H2 directly without having to do clean install.
