I am getting a firmware update message from Samsung Magician.
I guess it's just a generic message, because when I click on "Update", it's saying that I have the latest version.

Hi,
Misleading message seeing sammy is referring to the app updating not the ssd firmware.

For me, this all publicity attention grabber. Never used the magician software except to update firmware

Agree with you completely. There is nothing the tool provides for performance - SSD don't need anything. They also don't need overprovisioning anymore unless you run them at near full capacity (that was only when trim was not available). I check their website for firmware updates every once and a while (they are rare), so I haven't used the software for ages except to see if there is anything new and useful every once and awhile.

Me either. But since I have a new system with a fairly new SSD, the firmware updates may not have stopped yet.
Once I am confident that the firmware updates have stopped, I may uninstall Samsung Magician.

I just wish the software would work with drives on RAID controllers. At least the newer version recognizes the drives. However I am completely unable to utilize any features because pretty much every metric outside of the identity of the disk is N/A.

Anything. Even the drive health isn't showing up. It's only even giving the ID for the one disk in the array that isn't in RAID.
01c2b3e37dd605c0108d18ba90b6fb24.png

I have the same results with either my setup on my Asus X570-E, or on the server's H700 controller.
But it's kind of an improvement. Previous versions would just say I didn't have any supported drives installed. Now at least I can see serial numbers for one or two of them.

If I want to keep tabs on real data, I need to use software like Hard Disk Sentinel in order to see the drive information.

Well you can use other tools. Like for monitoring, CrystalDiskInfo will show the individual drives. But there is no other functions that Magician supplies.

Odd; I installed it a few weeks ago and it did not overprovision either of my drives. Maybe it's because the amount of free space on both drives is quite high.

Yeah, it didn't overprovision any of my 5 drives either - 2 NVME, 3 SATA...

For me, this all publicity attention grabber. Never used the magician software except to update firmware
I like the spinning wheel animation on the Status tab under Drive Dashboard. 😂

Guess at this point i gotta wait for whatever the issue with the software not seeing the newer version, other methods didn't work either, tried usb method.

Samsung Offical forum stated known issue with Magician, eventually will be fixed, all i gotta do now is attempt to relax and calm down if possible for me, totally enjoy keeping my Computer systems fully up to date, Firmwire, bios updates, drivers...go a bit nuts when something doesn't work right or see a newer version

I tried that eariler, didn't work, didn't even see the newer firmwire in the newly installed Version 7 after installing 6.3, then updating 6.3 to Magican 7

showed still old firmwire--that is different form the NVME 970 Evo Plus one on the site

I got a bit crazy when things don't update fully lol, but calmer for the moment lol
