Does anyone know the changes for Samsung Magician v7.0.1.630?

Edit: I found the changes.
  • Bug fix
  • Security improvement

I'm not real comfortable with the "Collection and Use of Personal Information Privacy Notice".

Just read this so I got out my portable T7. It immediately did a firmware update and a benchmark. This is a much better way to support the portable Samsung SSDs.

I have found, for at least my Samsung 980 nvme drive, that the Intel RST (Rapid Storage Driver), performs better than the Samsung 3.3 nvme driver as well as the native Microsoft nvme driver (same for my WDC SN850 - better than Microsoft). I also was having issues with SMART when waking from sleep with the Samsung driver (CrystalDiskInfo would false positive an issue), which does not happen with the Intel RST drivers. Now all my solid state storage (RAID 0 SSD, 980 nvme SSD, SN850 nvme SSD) use the RST driver. Hope this helps someone.

I tried your suggestion of using the Intel RST driver. It had an unfortunate side effect. When I start Samsung Magician it can no longer find any (not just Samsung) of the NVMe drives. I finally decided that I wanted drive management rather than absolute speed so stepped back 2 days with a Macrium backup and all normal again.

Windows 11 Pro Beta, 11 Dev, W10 VHDX Triple Boot
Is it set to autostart ?
It is but it seems 7.1 is FUBAR

Reinstalled 7.0.1 and all is right with the world again, Samsung have removed 7.1 from their website

Didn't for me and I suppose there's obviously an issue for Samsung to take it down

7.1.0 was installed and works fine on my Windows 10 PRO system. I know that info does not help you bleeding edge types. :-(

A neat little trick with SSD's. If you have a valid clone and you want the fastest speed? Use the secure erase function to reset your SSD back to factory default. JUST be sure that you have a valid clone BEFORE attempting this! In the performance testing you should notice a difference in the speeds.

7.1 for me continuously fails to start on restart
I had that, but as the software also says, a reinstall my solve. It did for me, and now I don't get them anymore.

That said, I did get one more of those notices; however, this one came during a GPU driver update. Basically, I was in the process of upgrading my GPU drivers by removing the old ones first, rebooting, and then installing the new ones. It was upon the reboot that I got that warning. Once the drivers were installed, no more notices.

Just FYI.

They were continuous on every reboot for me, anyway back to 7.0.1. I'll wait until Samsung fixes it. It also kept crashing when I was asking it to analyse other drives

It only works on Samsung drives, same as Corsair, If you want a general tool for most drives use Seatools.

The "Failed to Initialize" at each reboot can be resolved by changing the Samsung Magiciamn SVC service "Startup Type" to Automatic (delayed)
