Secondlife Game Issue--Sims showing as water alot

Hello All

Been working with Linden Labs support since 11/6, Even Installed the official secondlife viewer hoping to solve my issue, and unforuately didn't as yet.

Issue is whenever walking or driving around the Estate, get to a sim change and only see water--and cannot cross or i'll crash unforuately

So options are wait for an official fix?

Do a Clean Windows 11 Pro Install and pray that fixes the issue completely?

Already did an uninstall and reinstall of Secondlife software, Cleared Cache, Cleared Temp files, Restarted Comcast XB7 Gateway modem/router/wifi device

If i opt for eventually the clean install, is it advisable to disconnect my Sata 1TB Game SSD and 4TB Storage drive?, then shutdown after all the updates are in, and reconnect the drives prior to installing programs?

*Did you DriverEasy trial to update some of system drivers months back, not sure if its something idiot me screwed up or if its something Secondlife screwed up in one of there server updates**

Just a wild guess.... DriverEasy is the cause.

Yeah i'm starting to think that way myself

In process of backing up personal data to external, and will go clean install way possibly soon Don't think gonna restore Macrium Reflect Image as don't know when it got officially screwed up.

I should've known DriverEasy wouldn't fix any issues in the first place, as followed advice from EA Games forum on running DriverEasy to update drivers to fix occasional black screen after Rounds in Battlefield 2042

Goto Fix one Problem, end up creating another

Explores Macrium Reflect Images to see if i got one before DriverEasy try lol, not saying gonna use one of those to restore, but might have one after my last clean install possibly. Then only would have to Reinstall The Games, Reconfigure OneDrive on Storage drive, and minor other reconfigurations lol. Though the one i do have i believe is back to May 9th 2023

Yeah.... ya might want to make backups a bit more often.

Like maybe once a month-ish.
I make them fairly regularly...

Yeah i typically do once a month, i just don't remember when i first used DriverEasy lol, maybe will just do a complete clean install soon, and disregard restoring Macrium Reflect Image this time, and then make sure i do backups more often than i have done.

That's another option. Just stay away from driver updaters.

I ran Win 11 for about 6 months, before I did my final install.
The first 6 months were just for practice.

Yes plan to stay away from Driver Updaters on Desktop and Gaming Laptop

I don't think it's Second Life that causing your problem. I have no problem with sim crossings, or any other issues for that matter, other than the occasional freeze up that lasts a second or two, but is very rare. The only problem that I have ever had was an Nvidia driver glitch that caused all sorts of weird rendering problems, but that was fixed by Nvidia in a couple of days.

But I do have a piece of advice for you @bikemanI7 : Remove your SL user name from those pictures you posted. There are a lot of sociopaths out there.

The consensus among knowledgeable computer experts (I don't include myself in that class) is that you should avoid using driver updater programs.

Driver Update Is this Malware? - Am I infected? What do I do?

Yeah well definitely learned my lesson in the matter

As issue not only present on Desktop, discovered it also present on Gaming Laptop (2nd PC) so yay 2 machines to somehow get fixed, learning towards clean install on one of Windows and everything on one--(system image after the clean install this time on both systems) Then if works properly then i know how to permently fix the big desktop system.

Guess i may have used DriverEasy on both oops, advise from a game forum suggested said program to get all drivers up to date to fix another game crashing, well black screening after rounds in Battlefield 2042 for Desktop, and Laptop to fix Need For Speed Payback from another minor issue.

Never touching that program again

No infections though have scanned both systems with Defender, Malwarebytes Full scan, and Eset Online scan, not a thing found

((No further response from Linden Labs support as yet either, holding off on Desktop i guess til ticket closed i suppose))

It's best just to stay away from all driver updaters.
They're all gonna muck things up, sooner or later.
The driver world is just too big and complex for a simple program to handle.

Yeah gonna stay away from all from now on

on Both systems

Standard driver updates from Manufactuers if and when needed

Windows Updates when available

Offical Program updates only

And Gonna make sure monthly full backups are up to date more often now on for both Desktop and Laptop systems

Don't feel bad. In my younger and stupid days, I too, used a driver updater, which had disastrous results for my computer.

Thank goodness, I had learned about the importance of a robust backup strategy back then. Recovery was straightforward and fast.

I never used a driver updater or registry optimizer after that. In later years, when I started my malware removal studies at Bleeping Computer, I learned the true dangers of such programs.

Well 6PM Update after spending all day reconfiguring Laptop after WIndows 10 Clean Install

Problem Remains lol

Guess next step is wait for Linden Lab to reply, and hopefully they find actual cause, as i'm at a loss, i really though this clean install would've solved it, and i'd have one properly working Machine, and then just had to fix the other one.

Only drivers installed as via Windows Update, and Manufactuers sites for a few items
Intel Drivers from Windows Update
HP Drivers for Laptop
1 HP Firmwire update
standard stuff

Think early tomorrow doing a 5 Minute Restart of Comcast Gateway XB7 Modem, TV Boxes as well if i got time between all other family members dvr recordings, will see

Thinking might be a comcast internet issue now, as that was a completely clean install of Windows 10 on Laptop and issue showed up immediately when i logged into the program, as for exact cause i have no idea yet

Update: Used my 3 Year Technology Upgrade via Comcast Xfi Complete, and Received a New XB8-T Broadcom Based Gateway

Set that up, and strangely SL Issue is working as normal again just like before November 6th 2023!

Very Happy, but still kinda worried if will come back with future Firmware update, but i hope not, been so far 5 days without an issue
