Windows 11
hi my laptop is breaking in front of my very eyes and i have no clue what to do
I have tried - Win + X
cmd - start ms-settings:
Win + R - ms-settings:
tried opening it in safe mode
i typed a long ass code on powershell - didnt work - but if you have another string of code pls send <3
the reason i need settings is because im trying to factory reset. my screen goes black after login - before you ask - i've tried basically everything on google to fix it, it usually comes back after 5-10 minutes.
another reason is because whenever i plug in my earbuds, it says "this app cannot open" - in context of Realtek Audio Console, and the sound goes through my laptop speakers instead of my earbuds. (apple earbuds btw)

please please help me on any of these issues.
laptop information: windows 11 home, asus tuf gaming laptop, x64, intel core processor - Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-9300H CPU @ 2.40GHz, 2400 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s) probably useless information but im dumb as hell

You can do an In-Place upgrade, rather than a factory reset.
This will repair Windows, but leave all your programs and files, untouched.

Here is the short version of the In-place upgrade tutorial...

DISABLE non-Microsoft:
a) antivirus software
b) firewall software
c) drive encryption software

Make a full OS backup with a program like Macrium Reflect (free)
Macrium Software | Macrium Reflect Free

Go here and get the Windows 11 ISO (use the 3rd option), and save the ISO to your desktop.
Download Windows 11

000000 Win 11 ISO.png

Right click the ISO image and choose: MOUNT
Open File Explorer and you will see a new drive letter. It will "look" like a DVD optical drive.
Double click the new drive letter to open it.
Find setup.exe and double click it to start the in-place upgrade.

Choose the Keep personal files and apps option.

After it's all done... to UNmount the ISO image, right click the new drive letter and choose: EJECT.

The ONLY thing you will lose is some of your personalizations. Your programs and data will be intact.

thank you, but how would i go about creating a backup? i've downloaded macrium but how would i create a backup?

At default settings, the backup will be one half the size of whatever is ON the C:\ drive, and you will need somewhere to "put" the backup. Maybe an external hard drive, a big USB stick, an internal storage drive, etc.
If you have say... 40GB on the C:\ drive, the backup will be about 20GB.

Quickie Macrium Guide...

000000 MACRIUM 2.jpg

For future reference...

WHEN you get this all fixed, hopefully... make a fresh Macrium backup.
Then, if anything goes wrong in the future, you can just restore from the backup.

Backing up and/or restoring with Macrium takes about... one minute for every 20GB on the C:\ drive.

ghot i love you so much it worked thank you so much

Good job.

Now make a fresh full backup and when you have the backup, you can delete the other one.
Be sure also, to make the Macrium bootable rescue media, so if ever needed, you can access your backups even when Windows won't boot. :-)

This may also come in handy...

just a thought : maybe open administrator command prompt and run
Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
reboot and see if that helps
