Hello,

There is a shortcut to OneDrive Documents is in my OneDrive Music folder
There is another shortcut to OneDrive Videos in my OneDrive Pictures folder.
Macrium Reflect's File and Folder backup default is to follow User Reparse Points.
It seems that with these shortcuts as they are, I will end up with duplicate Documents and Videos.
For this reason, I would like to delete the shortcuts, but should I keep them?

Thanks in advance.

Would you please login to onedrive on the web and verify if those shortcuts exist in your folders there.

Also can you say if you have ever made any attempt in any way to unlink your user folders from onedrive or delete or change onedrive.
I am assuming from what you said that you want to keep Desktop, Documents, Pictures, and Videos personal folders in Onedrive and not on your system drive. Is that correct?

@glasskuter Thank you

Yes. Those two shortcuts are also in OneDrive on the web.

Regarding OneDrive changes, very likely these links were created by Onedrive when it took control of my folders from my other laptop and then merged them. It was on that other laptop where I very likely made folder changes way back.

I would like to keep the personal folders both in OneDrive and also constant sync all of them ("Download all files" e.g. solid green+check_mark) to my system drive (on my system 1). The download completed. And they are part of my latest MR image. Next, I would also like to do a File & Folder backup of these personal folders.
But haven't proceeded to this step because I think MR will follow the shortcuts (am not sure if MR considers these as System or User reparse points). One option is to not tick that box in MR. But I'd like to do some cleanup now if I can, in case I create my own shortcuts in the future.

Deleting shortcuts should be safe, especially since you are smart to backup your folders first. TBH, we have seen some weird stuff with OD where answers weren't always straightforward. Always best to cover your bases.

@glasskuter

With those shortcuts still present, I ran 2 experiments. First one, I set MR to follow only user reparse points. In the second, I set to follow only system reparse points. Got the same results in both! The shortcuts were not followed -- the file and folder backup kept them as links. Mounting either of the backups, I can click through the links and explorer sends me the the actual directory in C: So, no more concerns with this.

But I will still cleanup, who knows what OD does in the future.
