My pc is Lenovo Legion Y520 with a I5 7300HQ i thought it had a TPM 1.2 but when run tpm.msc I discovered that instead i have a TPM 2.0 specification.

The windows health check says that my pc is not compatible because of the processor.

Would i run into any problems even though I have tpm 2.0.

This is my take on the question in general, and who might do what...

If you're a novice just looking to see what Windows 11 offers, consider Microsoft has warned that installing Windows 11 on unsupported hardware will not be supported i.e. receive updates, tech support, or any other support for unsupported hardware.

Yes, there are workarounds, even by Microsoft, to get the OS to install on unsupported hardware, but here's where the rubber meets the road - if you're a novice are you prepared to deal with fixing any issues that may arise from running an unsupported OS on unsupported hardware?

Are you prepared to deal with the fact that the OS may never receive updates or security patches? That the unsupported OS may become open to a host of security holes because it can't be patched.... because Microsoft won't support it.

If you can deal with that, and many here are prepared to do so, then give the OS a try. If you're a novice, and especially with only one PC, running an OS on unsupported hardware could become an unbearable chore.

In short, if you only have one PC, are a novice, and don't want to chance the unknown of a new OS on unsupported hardware, stay with Windows 10 as it's still a good OS with 4 years of full support left.

My two cents.

My 2 cents.
If you have a "not compatible" PC, join the insider program and dual boot Win 10 and the Insider Win 11 versions.

My desktop is OK as its an i9 9900K but I have a Dell Inspiron 15 Gaming 5577 that has a 7th gen i5. It will remain on Win 10. Its used in my recording studio and works perfect with Win 10. My recording studio recording program (Cakewalk) is backward compatible to Win 7 and will remain compatible according to Cakewalk.

Thanks a lot for the advice i will probably stay on win 10 to avoid the bugs. Do you know if Microsft will expand the suported processors in the future? it is a bit strange that my 7th gen i5 is not supported but a 8th gen atom or celeron is supported.

As stated, no one is certain what Microsoft will do. Though I do think Microsoft will stay the course since they built the OS with certain features and functions in mind that only new hardware can handle, and especially where security is concerned.

Yeah, some (me included) will note 11 (even the RTM now) can be run on old hardware, but that's now. Eventually, the final product will have an established baseline that may make those machines problematic in the future.

Again, if you're a novice with one PC, do you want to take that chance?

HI,
As many people I have an unsupported CPU on my laptop Acer Aspire 7 running Windows 10 Professional. It's an Intel Core i5-7300HQ.
I have just added 1 line in the Windows registry to disable the CPU check and downloaded the official stable release ISO of Windows 11-64 bits on the Microsoft server without any modification.
No problems at all. Fast install in less than 1 hour. Windows 11 is working perfectly. Windows Update also behaves as it should. Windows 11 is already activated when installed. Microsoft Store is OK and Widgets are fully functional. And I am definitely got rid of the useless Windows tiles !
No reason to follow Microsoft's limitations when the result is excellent with a more modern, more efficient system that will improve even further. Upgrade fully recommended.

Note :
Despite excellent system stability of Windows 11 Microsoft released a patch on October 12 (KB 5006674) and once again windows update worked perfectly. I took the opportunity to install Windows 11 Pro on a PC HP with Intel Core i7 third generation without TPM and of course unsupported CPU and once again after a minor registry change the installation was flawless with an overall increase in software speed and Windows Update fully functional.

That is a myth. There is nothing new for security in Windows 11 that Windows 10 does not have. The only difference is that in Windows 11 some of the features are enabled by default, whereas in Windows 10 the user must go in settings and enable the features.
