Time and Language Show or Hide Time and Date on Taskbar System Tray in Windows 11

  • Staff
Time_banner.png

This tutorial will show you how to hide the time and date on the taskbar system tray for your account in Windows 11.

The clock on the taskbar system tray shows the system time and date by default.

Starting with Windows 11 version 22H2 KB5030310 Build 22621.2361, you can now hide the time and date in the system tray.

If you set to hide the time and date in the system tray, you can still click/tap on the clock location on the taskbar system tray to open the notifications/calendar flyout.

Contents

  • Option One: Show or Hide Time and Date on Taskbar System Tray from Taskbar System Tray
  • Option Two: Show or Hide Time and Date on Taskbar System Tray in Settings
  • Option Three: Show or Hide Time and Date on Taskbar System Tray using REG file

I have a newly installed version 22621.2215, and since another article said this only worked in Insider mode, I'm also on the Beta Insider Build. Sadly, in both cases it's NOT working. I had high hopes because I'm using the new and improved T-Clock 5.4.1.1 mentioned in another thread, and I don't need both clocks... Screenshot attached.

Options 1, 2 & 3 have no effect on my PC. The choice described in Option 2 Step 3 is simply not there on my settings page;. there is no "Turn On (default) or Off Show time and date in the System tray."

Hello, :alien:

I'm afraid it's currently only available starting with Windows 11 build 25346 (Canary) and build 23440 (Dev) builds for now.

Right. I wondered about that when choosing which Insider level to go on. I actually use this machine for real life, so I didn't want to be too far out on the bleeding edge. Thanks for the info.

UPDATE: So. I just got done complaining about all of the above, and I got Insider Beta 22631.2215. The choice in your Option 2 Step 3 (above) is now present, and it works! I'll have to go find something else to fix. (I still think 11 is a downgrade from 10, and I put it off for a long time hoping it would catch up to 10. All of my tweaks so far have been in getting back more Windows 10 functionality. However, I'm willing to give it a go and work with it. Face the future and all that.)

Hello, and welcome. :alien:

It hasn't been removed as far as I know.

It possibly could be a bug.

You should still have it.
Have you tried fixing it via a REG file? After you've downloaded it and installed it, Restart your PC and see if it works.
