Side panel in Chrome

I cannot get mine to work after I closed it (it had google keep in it).
It is setup to show on the right in setting/appearance but the icon to open it is no longer available.
Now, I can only create a side panel with bookmarks but nothing else can be added to it.

I thought that maybe it's the latest update. I tried to mess around to help you, the icon for the side panel is MIA

Yes, I read that too.

The weird part is I know I saw the side panel yesterday with google keep and a couple other apps on it. As soon as I closed it, it was gone forever.
