When you check the box “User must enter a user name and password…“ and click ok or apply, no further action is needed because the action will be you having to log in when windows starts up.

When un-checking “User must enter a user name and password…“ and clicking ok or apply, it will ask you to enter your log in/account password (pre-fill) so that you don’t need to use it when windows starts up.

Windows Hello needs to be turned off so windows doesnt ask you for a pin either. I know you understand this part so I assume you have done it. There is a thread for this in Ten forum, its 24 pages long. So you are not the only person that has had problems.
(FYI turning off Hello, will not wipe your pin it just informs windows you don’t want to use it to log in.)

Do you use a Microsoft account for logging into windows ****@outlook.com? I ask this because there was a time a while ago where instead of the first 5 letters of my username as the login name, I had to use my full Microsoft account name “****@outlook.com” nothing else worked and I never asked in forum or worked out why.
And do you have 2 accounts? An admin account and a general user account? Or just the Admin (like me)
When windows boots and asks you for a pin or password, are there any other accounts listed in the bottom left corner?

Ok much thanks for the very clear explanation. I need that sometimes lol.
Brink should probably correct the Step 4 instructions to reflect it showing unchecking that selection rather than checking it like it shows. That confused me.
I will give this a try shortly and advise!

Edit: Also I sign in with my pin, my account is an old hotmail email address I sign in with if not using pin.
No other accounts, just my admin account.

Woohoo it worked baby!! And only had to do it one time!! It was the Step 4 instructions that were messing me up, once I unchecked that box and entered password, that was all it took!
