I have two identical win10 systems and just upgraded one to win11 (2h24). All the programs work however on the win11 system there is a slight delay when doing a file>open within irfanview, or vlc, maybe others. It is *not* the extended delay you may get when network shares cause a delay, its about 3/4 of a second is all. So not the end of the world but I would like to understand how to fix it if possible. Why would 11 be a bit slower than 10 for this? thanks!

Have you installed any add-ons or done any tweaking?

How recent was the upgrade? There are a lot of optimizations, indexing and other tasks that could cause temporary slowness in the system.

I tested it at each step of the upgrade/customization process. It began with my very first win11 boot and hasn't changed now that I've updated to 2h24. The initial upgrade was on Friday. Could it have something to do with sorting? just a guess

Just a tip, the Version for Win11 is 24H2, the 24 is the year [2024], the H stands for half of the year and the 2 is for second half. Use of 1 for first half was discontinued and no 3 as there's only 2 halves. Current Version is 24H2 Build 26100.4484. Scheduled updates are known as Patch Tuesday, second Tuesday of a month, and there are unscheduled updates at times.

Try a Clean Boot, if this works you can keep it this way, or if you want to know, Add one or more Services or Startup Items at a time. until the behavior returns, than you will know the culprit.

Once the new window (with the files on the computer) pops up, can you tell us what attributes show up? For example, in Notepad,
when I do File -> Open, at the top of the window that pops up, I see "Name", "Size", "Item Type", and "Date Modified".
Which ones does it show on your computer?

thanks for the help folks. I just went through a two hour guided troubleshoot session with Copilot looking at traces and trying a bunch of fixes to no avail. So now I'm pooped and thinking I'll live with this issue at least for now.
