Solved Snipping tool seems broken any alternatives

Yeah that's funny
Just tried to sync time and it failed lol

I always disable set clock automatically how hard is it to set bios clock.

changed my time etc as per the video, thats it working now, changed the time back + auto update and it still works (for now lol)

That works -- I missed the st.mui bit so that's why I think it failed. Only a temporary solution of course. Not marking as "Solved" as this is a get around and will probable need to be re-applied until Ms fix the issue.

Did the time-changing solution work for you? (Just noticing that you haven't marked this Solved)

(I don't have the problem, just watching this thread, since I cured mine with a repair install some time ago.)

Thanks @Fortitude This machine I am on is fine, the other machine is the problem so I will have to wait until tomorrow to check it

FWIW, @Kari uses GreenShot. It's also open source and a nice little tool.
I use snipping tool, screen print, and on my publication machine SnagIt (not free, but great).

• Greenshot: simple and sufficient
• Sharex: simple, fast and many options
• Screenpresso: professional, resourceful
• Snagit: pro for sure, almost limitless options

For the record, I can confirm that the Snipping Tool works with the tweak even after a computer restart.
As regards the other software being discussed in this thread, I would recommend Screenshot Captor found at For Software Connoisseurs - Homepage - DonationCoder.com.

UPDATE:

Workaround: To mitigate the issue with Snipping Tool, use the Print Screen key on your keyboard and paste the screenshot into your document. You can also paste it into Paint to select and copy the section you want.

Next steps: We are working on a resolution for Snipping tool and the S mode only issues and will provide an update when more information is available.

I still use win-7 snipping tool/ paint and notepad

Haven't tried the shareX app but if it works on video captures at 60+ fps on mp4 I'll be happy OBS studio is way to weird.

Snipping tool was not working on this machine, as it was also bringing up second blank window covering the image. Turned out to be a conflict with explorerpatcher and winaero tweaker. stopped winaero and all is now fine

Mine never on this machine until |I tried to be too clever, reversed the chages all is mine, my best machine and obviously this one (until I tinkered) were unaffected but my wife's was and the "Date Change" fix sorted that so all is well.

UPDATE: Now fixed.

Download the latest update from Microsoft, it fixes this issue
