So, about Vivetool & PDBs...

I'm downloaded all the PDB files for Vivetool, & it's taking up LOTS of space on my 2 TB hard drive. When I've enabled/disabled the features I want in Vivetool, I would like to get all of that precious storage space back -- & I would undoubtedly have to delete all the PDBs to do so. Will it damage my computer, or interfere with the enabled/disabled features, if I delete all the PDBs?

(would really like to know A.S.A.P.!)

Why do you even need the PDB files to run ViveTool?

The point is Rafael Rivera works with other smart Insider build nerds to compile the PFS dictionary lists from time to time. So they do all the hard lifting, scanning for new symbols, and you don't have to do the same (unless you're impatient at their progress).

Ohhhhh...The Vivetool installation tutorials I read, said that I needed to download all of the Debug PDBs in order to set up the Hidden Features list. ^^;; So, it should be fine if I delete them, then?

Symbol files are intended for three types of users: software developers, system folks who debug crashes, and security researchers. If you don't fall into those categories, they're not useful to you.

Because if you don't understand Windows or programming internals, they don't do anything on their own. The other folks are matching the symbols to very specific debugging info they're looking at.

ViveTool is designed to be a standalone tool. You just need someone to suggest which magic ID numbers need to be enabled or disabled, and which Windows releases they work on.
