Solved Something running that staggers and interrupts my mouse pointer

This just started happening. I am using Malwarebytes Pro and also Win Defender. Have had no issues.

Something is running in the background. I guess.

When I move the cursor around it invariably hesitates. This seems to be intermittent.

I have scanned using external virus scan and it is clean.

This just started happening. I use a logitek trackball and also an amazon mouse. I have had no issues with these before. The trackball seems to be affected more than the mouse.

Yesterday I did a Net Framework upgrade. How do I uninstall that to see if that is the issue

@j45 You do not say if your devices are wired or wireless. To best assist you we need all the infomation you can give.

I suggest testing with one mouse at a time. Disconnect the second mouse and make sure it's receiver is unplugged while testing if it is wireless.
If both devices test good in their own right but not together, the 2 devices are interfering with each other so the problem lies in one of the devices causing the interference.

Test in safe boot. , If a problem doesn't happen in safe mode, this means that default settings and basic device drivers aren't causing the issue.

Perform a clean boot to eliminate software conflict causing the issue. If it doesn't happen in a clean boot, you have some software conflicting with Windows. Brink's procedure will help you weed out which one. Perform a Clean Boot in Windows 11 to Troubleshoot Software Conflicts Tutorial

No, they run happily side by side with no ill effect on the system. Only if MWB is set to register itself with Windows Security is Defender automatically turned off.

That is what I said or meant, Running two AV programs together has always been a bad idea.

I was just replying to the thread. The OP was talking about something running in the background. I was told by other very well known members that MWB Pro does have a virus program and what I said was that It would be disabled or as you put it only MWB would only register with Windows Security. Seems that the culprit was KB5036620 which I loaded on the 23rd. It is now uninstalled.

Please tell us if you have a wired mouse or wireless, as asked before.

A friend of mine uses wireless mouses, and as soon as he plugs in a usb stick next to the mouse sender/receiver usb device. Then his mouse gets haywire, stutters, hangs, delayed movement etc.
Perhaps you have something like that, Disconnect any other usb device, and only try the mouse.
Could even try to change position from the back to the front of the device. So the sender/receiver has a shorter distance to the mouse.

That was done with no improvement except that when I used the tracball it was a bit worse. I deleted the Logitech stuff and no relief.

I heard about this happening with amd systems on older amd radeon drivers. But that was fixed quite a bit ago. And your using intel. Quite odd. It is usually an issue with interference

I dont have any restore points. Have to bone up on that. I still think its MS Windows Updates This computer is new but I have not had any problems with it, until this week

i have a mybook on the floor under the desk plugged in usb but i have never had a problem I will try and move or unplug and see what happens thanks

Please tell us if you have a wired mouse or wireless, as asked before.

A friend of mine uses wireless mouses, and as soon as he plugs in a usb stick next to the mouse sender/receiver usb device. Then his mouse gets haywire, stutters, hangs, delayed movement etc.

I have that issue on an older Dell laptop and I found I plugged the USB receiver into the universal USB2 port (can't remember the name, it does more than just USB) rather than the USB3 ones then the problem disappears.

Edit... should add that the issue with USB3 port only shows when I plug something else like a flash drive into another USB3 port.

I disconnected my ext drive. and unplugged it. so far I have not experienced the problem.
This computer is a mini. I had the ext drive plugged in to the front of it. Since I ran out of USB ports I plugged a USB dongle to the back USB port and run the mice and the drive from there.
So far with the Drive not in the system I have not had a problem.
I think I am getting somewhere. So far.

Another method to reduce interference with USB 3.0 ports is to use an extension USB 2.0 cable, and to connect the mouse or wireless receiver to it, so that is not near the USB 3.0 ports.
