start menu icon stuck on left

start menu icon has stuck itself to the left, settings have taskbar aligned to centre

so how can this be fixed?

tried the registry alignment fix, no change.
changing in settings, no change.

so what's going on? surely theres a way to get it to be back in the centre properly.

you can see the issue, image attached.

has anyone managed to solve this DaVinci code?

and then not to mention the disappearance of the date/time
but if i can at least get the icons to be back in the centre properly then i can get around the date/time issue with elevenclock, even though thats ridiculous to have to do so

To get the ball rolling and hopefully someone can help out, may I suggest a couple of things

What are your system specs? (Can help if these are placed under "System Specs" in your profile)
Is your system Win 11 ready or did you bypass the checks?
Did you do an upgrade or a clean install to get Windows 11?
Are you using any third party programs, for example "StartisBack", "Open-Shell" or other registry hacks?

Some times making these changes with third party programs, the changes can not be easily undone so the more information you can provide the better. :)

That's definitely a Windows 10 START menu icon.
So... if you are actually ON Windows 11, and using a 3rd party program to tweak things... we need to know about it.

it was an upgrade from w10 to w11

everything worked fine initially

i did use thisiswin11 for something

I know there is an align taskbar to left option in there

that may or may not have got applied inadvertently
but ive since gone in and undone that, at least in the app anyway

at this rate i'm just going to have to get a different start menu overlay to get this to work almost-right

doesnt explain the date/time disappearing as theres no options relating to that anyway

If you're not using any 3rd party taskbar modifiers or reg hacks then I'd say the upgrade went FUBAR somewhere then

yet it was right initially with everything in the middle...

the fact these things can be so easily broken is well...i shouldn't be suprised at all anymore...

even powershell is now being difficult and not letting me reinstall UWP, get-appx... commands throwing up errors

In the START menu search box type: Winver
Then post a screen shot of the window that opens.

Then, uninstall "ThisIsWin11"

"Upgrading" from Win 10 to Win 11 is ONLY a good idea, if Win 10 is running absolutely perfectly.
Otherwise, a clean install of Win 11 is the best option.

Here are some SAFE tweaks. But I wouldn't even attempt them till you get Win 11? running properly...

but anyway, just got start11, fixed back to centre, and using elevenclock to get date/time back but on the left

a frustrating compromise, but at least the essentials that should be there are there now

even more strange, now after doing a network reset (unrelated to the start/taskbar issue), now original date/time has come back, along with network/audio icons etc, now dont need elevenclock....just odd odd very odd indeed

Do you have more than one monitor?
As far as I know, ElevenClock is designed to add the Taskbar clock to your secondary monitor.

i have an extra monitor, only when i use it.

i was testing elevenclock because the date/time had disappeared, but now its mysteriously returned again.

whether thats something start11 fixed or not, who knows.

It sounds like you have some serious system issues there.
You stated that it worked well after the initial upgrade, but then it appears that some tweaks broke things a bit later.

If you don't have any system images to restore to, it may be easier for you to try a System Restore. It may get you out of trouble.

Well I am glad you have at least got it sort of working.
Surprised - NO!!! Unfortunately when ANYONE decides to change the way an operating system was designed to work, each and everyone of us is taking a calculated gamble that things will not hopefully break (that is why doing a backup of the system before any major changes are made should be mandatory) but we do not live in a perfect world.
With so little background information provided that may have led to the issues in the first place, IMO it is still laying there in wait.
Like other members have said, there appears some major conflicts or system issues going on in there somewhere, and time will tell if or when they may arise a again.

well its a minor issue than can be dealt with easily for now hopefully.

some other previous windows updates removed also, we shall see...

could be worse, and at least my system actually upgraded (after an initial fail, which may have been due to lack of space)

strangely enough, a windows 10 reinstall did not work on a clients old laptop, but then a fresh install of windows 11 did
