Stereo speaker connection problem on Dell PC?

It’s very hard for me to explain why I need this issue to get urgently fixed ASAP, but I was listening to a music CD when suddenly the left speaker of my Dell PC’s stereo system goes silent, while the music continues on in my right speaker, as normal. So I check my speaker connections, esp. the one involving the left, but I’m unable to see anything obviously wrong, and when I try playing my music again, the issue somehow got corrected, as both speakers are working fine again. But then roughly half an hour later, the left speaker goes silent again! Again, I check the speaker connections but can’t find anything obviously wrong, and when I try playing the music again, everything is fine, at least for now, but I anticipate that my left speaker will go silent again any minute now.

What can I do to prevent it from occurring again? PLEASE HELP – I would very much appreciate any helpful replies
