Hi all,

My laptop died and I got a new one. Complete with a fresh Win11 install.

I expected not much difference since on my old laptop I kept Win11 up to date as well.

First thing I noticed and want to mention:

Win11 still has no decent support to browse through images. Photos skips all webp image.

Although I discussed this issue in these forums before and there seemed no simple solution I had kind of hoped them issue would be resolved on this new system.

But hey , perhaps in a future Win11 update. :-)

For things like that, I just use ezgif.com to convert whatever, to a GIF

Also... VLC Media Player can view almost any video out there.

I don't care for Photos, still use WMP/Windows Photo Viewer to open .webp and .jfif images and Paint if wanting to edit such as resize, etc.

" and it works with webp images as well as .jpg etc. "............works indeed , contextmenu-item is added .
But..........does not work if the Photo Viewer is the standard viewer , the photos will not open in a slide-show, , guess it does work on a different viewer ( Photo App , Image Glass , etc.) ?

Simply rename the file extension from .webp to .jpg for each file. No file conversion is needed, they become regular .jpg files that can be opened with any program that supports standard .jpg files like normal.

That's not a solution and could cause rendering issues depending on the ultimate file use with a mismatched MIME/file type.

Change the extension to JPG, then open it with the Photos app (or Snipping Tool) and Save it as JPG again!

Have a look at this one:

But..........does not work if the Photo Viewer is the standard viewer
I did not know that! I don't use photo viewer. I've always used the low tech solution of not using a photo viewer database, just storing photos in individually named folders. I have thousands of photos going back to the 1970s (including scanned photos) and the system works well. In addition I use Serif Affinity for photo editing. Slide viewer works well for me, and I was rather disappointed when I first used Windows 11 to find that it had disappeared. Brink's tutorial was a great relief.
