I've been using Brave Beta for quite a while, but just recently whenever it launches I get this security message.

I normally sign into Amazon using a YubiKey with a security key pin and this works just fine. But, if I follow the above prompt nothing happens. Anyone else experiencing this or can you explain what is happening?

That is a windows hello prompt.

Edge and chrome has a security setting (that is slowly being set as the default) that you need to sign in using your devices log in credentials, in order to unlock the browser for it to auto fill out your saved passwords to the website. This is to prevent a malicious site from grabbing saved browser credentials.

1732281579355.png

The other reason you might see this is due to using a passkey instead of a password.

If it is not working, try clearing your browser cache and ensure that their are no extensions that could be interfering.

If its a passkey, you can delete it and reset it back up. If its a logon page and your saved password is not autofilling after this, the website could be having an issue....

I'm sorry but I don't understand your comment. If it's normal then why has it just started happening recently? Why should Brave/Windows Security ask me to sign in to "amazon.co.uk" whenever brave starts up when I haven't tried to log into amazon?

Do you have an amazon tab open? Make sure all tabs are closed and clear your browser cache. See my earlier comment on what it is.

Ah thanks @andrew129260 yes indeed I had an amazon login tab open. I use horizontal (Oops vertical) tabs in Brave and it was hiding in a closed tab group. (y)

Thanks again.
