subtitle translator (Free)

Hi folks
For those who like subtitles but can't get them into desired language this FREE subtitle translator based on Google works on W11 and the A.I translation is pretty accurate as well. A lot of new content on Netflix etc seems to have poor sound mixing -- not clear dialog but hideously loud sound effects and what's even worse when you've got quiet / almost inaudible dialog having background music as well renders it totally inaudible. I know it's not my ears because I'm regularly medically checked for Private Pilots License and a lot of older movies etc even from 1950's vintage are perfectly clear. --Seems the media studies courses aren't teaching their students much !!!!!

The app does call the Google API but the translations are all pretty OK -- one or two "funnies" like original -- I'm out of ammo - pass me a new magazine. Translated - I'm out of ammo - send me a Comic !!!! but on the whole quite good and easily editable with any text editor as the translated file can be downloaded as a bog standard subtitle .srt file. Just try it and see. You might be able to retrieve subtitles from opensubtitles.org in any language and then use the app to translate.

We used Google translate once at work to translate instructions into German for this guy who reported back it was totally unreadable, so I avoid it now, mind you I don't need it anymore
