Had to turn of the electricity to disconnect some plug sockets for painting. Turned electricity back on but now the pc shows this:

The pc hasn't touched in all of this. It was shut down correctly, it wasn't moved. Any help would be appreciated.

I think your Bios battery is dead and that you lost Bios settings when the power went out.
I think that's why that AMI screen was shown.

Your service manual should be available for download from your motherboard maker's support site.
The service manual will explain how to replace that battery. It might just be a simple coin-cell battery since you have a desktop computer.

Best of luck,
Denis

Change the BIOS battery. I once had a problem where a power glitch affected the BIOS and had to reflash the BIOS.

Happened again. Switched it off to clean the inside of dust and when I powered it up again I got the same screen as in my previous post.

This time put in a fresh battery but I'm still getting the same screen as above. Can't get into the bios for whatever reason.

Help.

Whenever you see the screen (in post #1), that says: Press F1 to Run SETUP...

Do that.
Then when in the BIOS, just hit F10 to Save and Exit.

That's it. That should get things back to normal. :-)

It would not respond to F1 (or F2 on reboot).

The F1 key only allows you to Enter the BIOS, "when" you see that screen, that tells you to "Press F1 to enter SETUP"

The rest of the time it's the DEL key which takes you to the BIOS.
