Hi All,

In Taskbar few of the apps are not showing up for me, like their icons are not showing which is annoying but i can access the applications
Attached the screenshot for reference.
Kindly someone help me get this issue resolved.

There is no screenshot attached. Is it a white generic box icon or no icon at all? Either way the simplest fix would be to unpin the app and re-pin to taskbar.

I believe another fix would be, where possible. If the above doesn't work:

  • Right click on the taskbar Icon that is not showing. A list should appear.
  • Right click on the program name of the icon from the list
  • Left click 'Properties'
  • Choose 'Change icon'
  • Select another icon picture, choose 'Apply'
    • You could try selecting the correct icon. But more often than not you have to choose a different icon then do the following:
  • Repeat the above and re-select the correct icon that you want to show in the Taskbar.
If you cant see the preferred icon, navigate using “Browse” in the select icon box, to the program executable and click on the programname.exe file, then icon should be available. If you need help with that, ask.

Sometimes, the fix is to reload File Explorer. Right-click on the taskbar, select Task Manager, select Details from the icons on the left. Find Explorer.exe and End Task. Then from above select New Task and type explorer and then execute to reload File Explorer.

I think you can also just right click on explorer.exe a restart, which is what I did until adding it to desktop context.

Also if you are using any third-party customization utility, such as Explorer Patcher, Open Shell, StaritIsBack etc, update it to the latest version. If you already have the latest version, download it again and install on-top to do an in-place upgrade/repair.

    Legacy MBR installation, no TPM, no Secure Boot, no WDDM 2.0 graphics drivers, no SSE4.2, cannot get more unsupported ;) This is only my test laptop. I had installed Windows 11 here before upgrading my main PC. For my main PC I use everyday see my 2nd system specs.
