As an expeddiment, I just opened the forum site in Chrome. Just the plain URL showing: "elevenforum DOT com." Clicked my three-dots menu in Chrome > More Tools > Create shortcut > OK. Shortcut on desktop. Before I even had a chance to right-click it, this dandy showed up:

I said No, thanks, and then right-clicked the desktop shortcut. "Pin to taskbar," big as life. How's that for easy?

Downside of post #43 method: an "app" called "Windows Eleven Forum" gets added to Installed Apps. Yech. If'n that sort of thing don't bother your OCD, then go for it.

So this could be an Edge issue then because the create shortcut option isn't there? I thought Edge was based on Chrome.

Before you go, a note. I just opened Edge (just shows you how dedicated I am to this forum, cuz I NEVER use Edge!) to the forum site, and using the 3-dots, chose More tools, and got the option to Pin to Taskbar. OK, and got both the dandy thingie I showed in #43 above again, but also got this (the one on the right) (no icon-changing required):

Yes, thanks @Wisewiz. It's just that many sites have some unrecogniseable home icons linked to their pages which are then generated in the shortcuts, hence where all this started in trying to change them.

You could well be right @Edwin. Maybe I'm just stuck in my ways of old. But for various reasons, I do use up to 4 different browsers and it's just handy to have quick access for some of the often used ones.
