Solved Taskbar Sound Not popping up

This has been going on for a while now. It's random so I can't figure what is casing this. So I click on the sound icon and it pops up and try and go in and change to either my speakers or head set and nothing happens when I click on it. I click off to the side and it drops down but when I click the sound icon it wont come up. I have to log out and back in and it works just fine until it dose it again at random. Any ideas?

What audio driver are you using? Did you use the driver from manufacturer's site? In my experience, Windows Update does it right mostly of the time but sometimes an older driver (or even MS HDAudio generic one will work). Sometimes DCH drivers suck, (Realtek I'm looking at you).

The process should be automatic: As soon as you plug in your headphones it should give you option of telling it what you plugged in OR, what you want to do with it; but who knows? There are so many distros errmm versions of Windows 11 and each has their own special selection of bugs. Have you tried re-installing the driver?

I am a father of five providing PCs, laptops, and tablets for all my family, most of which I have modified, rebuilt, or simply built from scratch. I do not own a cell phone, never have, never will.

Just have the generic Windows drivers. I'll try downloading the drivers for my MOBO.

It seems like a good idea. MS driver can work but it's a very basic barebones driver.

One more hour of testing and still no issue. If it was going to do it it would have by now. It came down to Audio Drivers... Fixed. (y)

Gave Dell touch screen with Windows 11 to daughter and got me an OTVOC. Being a PC builder I own many desktop PCs as well. I am a father of five providing PCs, laptops, and tablets for all my family, most of which I have modified, rebuilt, or simply built from scratch. I do not own a cell phone, never have, never will.
Well... :mad: It did it again just today. So now what? So in a test I disabled all NVIDIA Audio in Device Manager. See Pic. Leaving the Realtek drivers enabled. Could this have been a conflict? Anything you see that I may Have not thought of?:unsure:

Should I uninstall the NVIDIA Audio drivers altogether from my system? Thoughts? I think this is a plausible option and if I have no input from any members I'll go ahead and delete the drivers. But by doing so will Windows just reinstall them on reboot. "Most Likely" I'll hold off for now till someone chimes in.

I'm going to go ahead and do just that and lets see what happens! Doing this right now. I'll post back.

Well as per typical Window installed the NVIDIA Audio drivers as I see in device manager. but they are not showing up in the popup list on the taskbar and not in my uninstaller. This is a shot in the dark... All I can do is wait and see if it happens again. This post is open till I say so... I'll keep you up to date.
