A question if I may. I currently use Macrium 8 and have the rescue iso mounted on a partition on a second SSD - so that I can boot into W11 or Macrium rescue environment. I assume that IFW can be set up to work in a similar way ? Has anyone done this ? Any advice ?

"Great program", downloaded the Trial, I made a bootable USB and booted into it and it told me that the trial was expired !@! So no trial.
Dont even want to waste an email on this type of "trial" crap.
Would like to test before I purchase something.

Well to make your "AI" happy I did and on the USB bootable it expired.

Sorry didnt want to offend you with the AI bit. I just try to stay clear of all that stuf, same with Social Media, Co-Pilot, Widgets etc. As I am getting close to 70 I get a little grumpy sometimes. Trying keep my story short:
I only make Backups with USB-Media, like every month when MicroSoft drops the 2nd tuesday Update I let a backup loose with Macrium(Free - Yeah it still works thanx to Garlins scripts with 2023 cert. and 2011 revoked) so at that point I have a clean machine like from the 1st windows install with my programs that I update as soon as I let a BackUp loose. After updating my Browser and other important updates that I need. I Update Windows (11) (3 Desktops and a laptop)
Then I run the usual procedure of
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth / sfc /scannow / dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup / Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth ..etc - You know the punches
Anyhow all updates including the MS monthly update are done and "OK".
Next I check to see if my bootable USB needs to be updated as MS has been raising the Secure-Boot version releases. If needed at this time I make a new USB-Media.
Ok when everything checks out ok, I boot up with the USB-media and make my backup.
Then I winrar part my drive D in with a password(all my work programs utilities and sensetive data. After that I copy the System Backup and winrar file over to 3 different extern Media SSD(M.2) to be safe. After that I can "polute" the system again as I got a backup, so not much to lose if something "backfires"

I bought a 5-pack family edition of Hasleo but found out that it dropped a file in the UEFI partiton so I put that package on "probation" till I figure out WHY !
Bought a lifetime licence of aomei backupper also but the dumb thing skips the 16MB partition! (it dont even show it)

Now my question is can TeraByte Drive Image Backup and Restore Suite do the same with what I do with Macrium ?

Terabyte would cost me almost 50 Euro + 21% tax (I assume thats only for 1 PC)

A TeraByte license is valid for 5 computers. It covers the current version and all its updates. Up to now, new versions have not been launched frequently, so over time, the cost of a TeraByte license has been very low. This can change in the future, of course.

TeraByte programs are very flexible and extremely reliable, but they are not user-friendly, and have a learning curve.

What I did not like about IFW is it is supposed to exclude pagefile and swapfile but if you browse the created image they are present.
Supposed to be filled with zeros but they are not and are the same file size as what is on the system.
All data byte for byte is the same so it is like they are not actually excluded.

@Klaver7 - I have posted a question about the .exc file on the EFI partition and when Hasleo replies I will update.

Crazy that they snap the "pagefile and swapfile" I am a member of the Hasleo Forum but the beginning was anything but smooth as I could only post 1 time in 24 hours, till they unlocked that, they lied to me also one time where I was the first one to admit a new release on "Virus Total" and I was told that "THEY" upped them there before release ...

so All data byte for byte is the same so it is like they are not actually excluded. sounds to me like a Drive clone ... ?

Not sure all I know is they are not being excluded but are selected to be excluded in the UI and are taking up extra space.

The same file size is expected, and they are filled with zeroes when I mount a drive with TBIMount, run wxHexEditor in admin mode, and examine the file contents.

No it isn't and Terabyte say it should be smaller in the manual and not taking up space.



Hasleo and Macrium when you select the option to exclude them are actually excluded from the image.

The files will still show up, but are more like place-holders (the data is compressed to zero).

But they are not zero and you are quoting something from thirteen years ago.

Right-click those files in your image and look at file size.

They are not zero bytes.

With no compression the Hasleo and Macrium images are the same size as would be expected as you are not compressing the image.

But IFW image no compression is 4 to 5 GB larger which is the size of the pagefile.

Waiting for Stigg to see if this might be the right product for me to Use ...
Hasleo is GOOD and fast just that 1 little file it drops makes me cautious, so I stayed with Macrium to be safe.

it's really sad if you cant tryout a Trial. cause I wanna see this now about Pagefile.sys or not ... sigh
