This has happened a few times.

The font will switch to Chinese lettering, ike below . . .


How do I fix this?

Looks like the default font changed to Wingdings, or sumpthin!!!

I tried restart; log off

I didnt really see anything I could do in setting > language & time

I see it is not all 'Chinese'. There is some English in there as well. Seems random. Maybe corruption?
Open a Windows PowerShell window in Administrator mode and type the command sfc /scannow (note the space) and press the Enter key to run it. If it finds corrupt files it will try to fix them. It can take a while to run so be patient.
Then restart your computer.

Open Control Panel -> Regional Options (or Region). Go to the Advanced tab and click Change system locale. Make sure your current language is selected there, and try checking or unchecking the box next to "Use Unicode (UTF-8) for world language support," then restart your computer.

Here is what happened.
I came to the bottom of this page and scrolled up.

I saw Lavik's response and I thought only he had replied. I followed his instructions.
I dont know if it worked. I havent seen any Chinese lettering.

The English letters are as it should be

Everything app doesn't find 'gmail chamnge the default setting'; or - - - KEEP. Youtube / Desktop files is ok

I dont know Powershell.1 I tried but it says I need to be administrator

I know how to do that with CMD., but not Powershell

Do I do Powershell, or Poweershell (x86)?

SFC is an executable, so you can run it in CMD if you want.

You need to run it in a 64-bit command prompt or PowerShell. If you try it in 32-bit (x86), it won't start.

No problems. I think the Chinese lettering is gone. Ive been on the computer for 90 minutes and not seen any Chinese lettering.

The lettering came back. But I think its gone

I was moving files. I created new folder. I opened folder to paste in the files, and there was the lettering Bam, just like that

I ran sfc /scannow. The lettering is gone for now
