A red partition shown in Reflect is usually to warn you there's less that 10% free space on that partition.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven below to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

Seems you can remove this partion also ( recovery-partition) , why should I keep it.....??

A Windows update will always consume space. You can reclaim most of it by cleaning up the component store.

A recovery partition can be useful, it's what you use when you boot to the Advanced Startup options. It's not essential though, you could also boot to advanced startup from an install usb.

If you decide to delete the recovery partition it is essential that you disable the recovery environment first. While enabled the recovery partition holds your only copy of WinRE.wim. When disabled it is moved back to the C: partition for safe keeping. Reflect requires this WinRE.wim to be able to build RE recovery media. If you just delete the recovery partition without first disabling the recovery environment then you'll loose your only WinRE.wim.

Dont know yet , have seen lots of info about NOT (!) to remove the reclaimable packages , so maybe should give this partition some more space , from Windows C-partition.....

During certain updates/upgrades... Windows will expand its Recovery partition causing it to slip below the 10% available space which causes your RED flag to appear. It's not something to worry about until the next event that does the same thing. When that happens, there, most likely, won't be enough space left for expansion. In that case, Windows will carve off a chunk of your "C" partition to create a new Recovery Partition which will change your image geometry causing your imaging software to create an unscheduled FULL image. At the same time it will orphan the original Recovery Partition, leaving it to languish forever until externally managed by the user.

This is a common event among basic users...

It means that the drive is neatly full but in this case it’s really nothing to worry about as windows will manage this for you.

I'm not sure what it is that you mean by a "red restore-partion". Are you saying that the depiction of the partition shows up with a red bar in Disk Management? If so, that is simply an indication that the partition does not have a lot of free space available. It changes to red once the disk exceeds about 90% full.

Does this address your issue? If I misunderstood what it is that you are looking for, please do let me know.

It is my understanding that the "restore partition", when it is utilized, will be used only to access the files needed for its purpose. So having only 10% available for writing is superfluous. Nothing is written to it when using it for restore purposes. Is my understanding correct? Of course if the actual C drive had this little space available it could easily be a critical situation

I'm not sure what it is that you mean by a "red restore-partion". Are you saying that the depiction of the partition shows up with a red bar in Disk Management? If so, that is simply an indication that the partition does not have a lot of free space available. It changes to red once the disk exceeds about 90% full.
