I really hope I am just doing something wrong and need to be corrected, and this isn't something I am going to continue to have to deal with. I did a search and did not see anything that would help me with this.

I have a 30" monitor, and the way I like to work is have some applications on the left 50% of the screen and some the right 50%. The way I did this in Win7 was put two apps where I wanted them, right click on the taskbar, then select "Show side-by-side." Then I was done.

For example, I had the following apps opening in the following locations:

Applications opening up on the Left (taking up exactly 50% of the screen)
  1. Firefox Browser #1
  2. MS Word
  3. File Explorer
  4. Zoom
Applications opening up on the Right (taking up exactly 50% of the screen)
  1. Firefox Browser #2
  2. Chrome Browser
  3. MS Excel
  4. VLC Media Player
Once I "snapped" MS Word to the left side and MS Excel to the right side of the monitor, then clicked "Show side-by-side", every time I opened them afterward they would open in the exact same location.

For example, once I had Firefox #1 and #2 placed Left and Right, everytime I opened Firefox afterward, it would open both browsing windows, side-by-side, each taking up exactly 50% of the space, in the exact location I had left them.

I only had to do this once, and then I was done. For the rest of the time I ran Windows 7, I only had to do this again if I wanted to change the "default" location of an app.

Now, however, there seems to be no such feature, and I'm tired of constantly snapping my windows. I just want to work. Help!!

In my experience, Windows 11 will not remember a snapped position, I have to drag edges to resize manually.

I just tried positioning two browsers, Edge and Brave, to take up half the screen each by using the choices offered when you hover the pointer over the full page square symbol and the positions have held even after a shutdown. version 21H2 22000.708

There's a program called Persistent Windows, that among other things is supposed to remember where windows were last located.
How, or if... it works with Snap layouts... I have no idea. But it's easy and quick to try.

It definitely works with single windows.

What is PersistentWindows?
A poorly named utility that persists window positions and size when the monitor display count/resolution adjusts
and restores back to it’s previous settings.

For those of you with multi-monitors running on a mixture of DisplayPort and any other connection, you can run
this tool and not have to worry about re-arranging when all is back to normal.

Persistent Windows isn't really designed to do what you're asking. But... I think it may work for you... just as a by-product of it's intended function.
