I keep closing windows, but they keep running in the background and I only see them if I go to task manager and find out I'm running 15 sessions. This is a real problem, because the longer I stay online without closing down completely, the slower my typing gets because all my memory is used up. I have to keep totally shutting down and re-opening so I can type. Windows 11 has turned the windows into the enemy of efficiency. I frequently edit large documents created in templates. Windows 11 with its extreme sensitivity that keeps opening and closing windows unexpectedly and then keeping them running in the background where you can't find them has made just simply editing a document an inefficient nightmare.

Go to Task Manager, and Right click Windows Explorer and choose Restart, this will close any open windows.

Or just restart the computer.

Almost sounds like you got bigger problems than a simple memory leak. First thing I would do is check to see what programs are running in the background. But honestly, if you're using a Microsoft account as opposed to a local account I would advise a reinstall without using a Microsoft account to make the installation first. <BUT that's me.> Everyone has their personal preferences.

Gave Dell touch screen with Windows 11 to daughter and got me an OTVOC. Being a PC builder I own many desktop PCs as well. I am a father of five providing PCs, laptops, and tablets for all my family, most of which I have modified, rebuilt, or simply built from scratch. I do not own a cell phone, never have, never will.
I think it might possibly be a good idea if we first establish what the windows in question are?

You can also try a Clean Boot, If this works, you can keep it this way, or add one Startup Service or Item until you find the culprit.

I think the OP is suggesting that they are running 15 Windows operating systems simultaneously. I wouldn't rule out the possibility of that being the case, but if this is what is going on (and it isn't wanted) the best fix would be a complete reinstall. I think it is more likely that the OS has more than one log in associated with it but, as it stands, until they are prepared to give us more information, nobody here can help.
