Solved Trouble with yahoo mail

Hi all,
looked all over but getting nowhere with this one so hope there is some help here.
My wife has her own computer with a yahoo mail a/c but trying to connect with firefox she gets a message "unable to connect, try another device". I cleared the cache, tried edge, same result so I tried connecting with my comp, same result. Tried to open a new Yahoo mail a/c, same result. So......it doesn't seem to be a fault with firefox or her computer, more likely the yahoo a/c has been corrupted or whatever. Problem is , no help forum or phone contact available for Yahoo as far as I can see. Any ideas guys and gals?

I'm not sure whether I can help or not, but I connect to Yahoo mail and Gmail through my browser all day, every day. My email page is always open in my browser. However, I do use Chrome, not Firefox or Edge. With Yahoo I have two accounts (my wife and I) and I use it to manage my Calendar and regularly read the news. I assume that you are trying to connect through "yahoo.com" or "mail.yahoo.com". I do have a paid subscription to get rid of all the advertising. Have you tried resetting your router?

Yahoo mail has a new layout thing. I tried it once and hated it. I soon figured out how to go back to the original. I won't go to the new Yahoo Mail unless they force me.

Have you seen the above link ? Also provides a contact point for Yahoo which I have used with success.

Also, consider making yahoo.com your home page or go there when connecting to email. It provides a direct link.

The Microsoft Store also has apps available.

I have had Yahoo email for a number of years and use exclusively. We live in Janesville, WI., and at times, Yahoo email is lost for maybe 5 minutes. I suspect, their servers might be getting to much traffic at that time. I suspect they will have some equipment issues time to time. Nothing to worry about long term. Depending on where you live, there is just to much email traffic for equipment to handle.

I did not even know that Yahoo was still around.

Based on your input I would suspect your issue may be ISP related. Or a DNS issue. You might try accessing Yahoo via your phone not connected to you own wifi using it's own data plan.

Crap....all Comcast email is slowly switching to Yahoo for their email service. AT&T also uses Yahoo as their email provider.

I reckon you may be right M8. The ball and chain tried on her phone and got through OK but that doesn't explain why I can access my yahoo mail a/c on my computer in the next room but I had the same problem trying to access hers. We have both comps connected wirelessly via 5G and have had no problems up to now. Anyway, long story short, just created a hotmail a/c for her and she is going to delete the yahoo a/c via phone.......if she can. Consider it done and dusted and thanks all for the input.

They forced it on me, there's no way back (not even to Basic Mail).....

...so I've had no option but to use it - and it grows on you. It's actually substantially faster to load and use than the old one. I have access to another account that still has the previous one, so I can make a direct comparison.

I prefer the old style Yahoo email page over then newer one. I tried the new one a couple months ago and was not as User Friendly, for me.

His and hers computers are used wirelessly, via 5G/100Mbps, with ATT's modem in the basement. Longest Wi-Fi length is 30 feet. I might have a drop out once in a great while. My wife's Smart , 4K,TCL TV, communicates via wireless, every day for her Netflix, Prime, etc......etc apps. My TV in the basement rec room, is ethernet connected with Cat 6a cable. Been this way for numerous years. I prefer the Cat 6a cable as is shielded, from the modem to the TV and Denon AVR, for a more positive connection. This just me.

It was about a year ago, I lost the internet connect for about an hour, due to line failure, somewhere in our area. Fortunately, we have ATT internet/line crews, in our city.

ATT Yahoo for email, and Microsoft Bing for search engine. Been that way for numerous years. Yes, I have used Google and Firefox, over the years, and are okay. It depends on which ones you prefer. ATT line speed to the house avg ,107 Mbps and to my laptop, 90+Mbps avg. 4K Netflix, Prime and other movies, have NO movie interruptions. Smooth as silk. lol
