Solved Trying to Creaate Mosby Boot Disk with Rufus

A few weeks ago I was able to successfully create a Mosby Boot disk to update my Secure Boot Keys and it worked as advertised on my unsupported HP laptop. But my ASUS desktop SSD drive got corrupt[t sand failed I'll need to recreate the Mosby flash drive again, but when I do I keep getting the message that I need another 700 or so KB as there is not enough room on the 32 GB drive. When I started this morning to create the boot drive with Rufus the message appeared giving me the option of using the entire 32 GB of the disk or making a separate EFI (I can't remember the wording). I used the recommended option which I thought was what I did weeks ago when it worked, but I can't get the Mosby data copied to the flash drive! I then though partitioning the flash drive would help bus that didn't work either.

Since I'm sure everyone else who successfully uses Mosby, and I was one of them a few weeks ago, is successfully creating a Rufus boot drive I an doing something wrong and it is just not apparent to me what that is. In Rufus select Download, then when That is populated I click Download again which then brings up the selection to use the UEFI 2.2 version. And it always defaults to FAT 32 as file structure.

Anyway, if anyone can give me the correct procedure to make the Rufus boot disk so that I can copy the current Mosby version to its root, I would be sooooooo grateful!

Or is there another free boot creation tool that would do what Rufus does, i.e. create a UEFI bootable disk that permits copying the Mosby files?

What finally worked for me was, instead of extracting the Mosby files to a folder and THEN copying the files into the Rufus created boot flash drive, I extracted them directly to the flash drive itself. So this proves that there does exist stupid questions, which is no doubt why no one had responded to this question. :LOL:

That was the recommended method by the author of Mosby and Rufus.

I interpreted that incorrectly. "2. Extract all the content from the latest Mosby download archive at the top level of the boot media you created in the previous step." So yes, you are correct.

But now at least I have a functional machine even though it will only boot with Secure Boot disabled. But it is better than not booting at all.
