That's right. If using the Instant Flash method, renaming the file is not necessary. Only the Flashback method requires renaming the file to creative.rom. ASRock actually even made a crystal clear YouTube video to explain how this stuff works (see my post #71 above).

Side note: Even with fTPM enabled and working... it doesn't always "show" as working in Settings or Device Manager on my ASUS board.
A simple reboot, fixes that. But after another reboot, it may NOT show, again,

I just want you to realize that Windows itself is kind of dropping the ball a bit when asked to show whether fTPM is enabled or not.
Sometimes is shows as enabled, sometimes it doesn't. LOL
But, it IS enabled and running.

Just type: TPM ...in the Taskbar search box and you should get something like this...

I have seen some cases that after upgrading the BIOS some settings change or more settings are added. So upgrade the BIOS first and then configure the settings.

Asus released a new BIOS update on 17 September, 2025 for your board. This update "includes a critical fTPM firmware upgrade, enhancing security and optimizing game compatibility".

AMD took ages to get AMD fTPM to finally start working properly. None of the board manufacturers are to blame for that part of the problem. You can bet that a lot of AMD users didn't know you can easily bypass the TPM 2.0 requirement of Windows 11 to get Windows 11 to work on AMD, though. So, this makes me wonder how many people wasted money by purchasing a discrete TPM 2.0 module (dTPM) for their board. (I call it "wasted" due to the simple fact that you only have to google "AMD CPU vulnerabilities" one time to see what cannot be unseen.)

I believe the "issue" was intentional, so Asus could sell discrete TMP 2.0 modules! But now that Windows 10 EOL is close they would lose their customers, so they decided to "fix" it with a new firmware and make their customers stay loyal to Asus.

I have no idea what you are talking about. None of the board manufacturers (including Asus) were able to fix it sooner because it is an AMD CPU problem that only AMD could fix. AMD fTPM is part of AMD Secure Processor (ASP). So, before a board manufacturer can fix it in a new BIOS update, AMD has to let the board manufacturers know what they have to do for that. ASP = AMD Secure-if-you-believe-such-a-thing Processor. So, when I say google it, I really mean google it.

You just gave me one more reason to avoid AMD and prefer Intel. They say AMD has won the "CPU war" and is better and faster and cheaper than Intel. BS! None is true. If Intel still makes CPUs in the future (hopefully yes), my next PC will be Intel again.

To be completely fair, even Intel Arrow Lake, or Core Ultra (Series 2) processors released on October 24, 2024 such as the Intel Core Ultra 285K, for example, still have other vulnerabilities in them. Here's one: Training Solo - vusec
That plus the common observation that the real-world performance of the Core Ultra 285K is underwhelming for the most part (even, if you are not a gamer) with not very numerous big exceptions AFAIK. Even so, AMD-based systems generally tend to have more problems for which there exists no real workaround or fix or when they finally manage to get it fixed, the hardware has already gotten so old that it is even more underwhelming than the Intel. It's that nuance that is often overlooked. In a sense, AMD is more secure than Intel because AMD crashes before the hacker has a chance to steal your secrets.

What do you mean Intel Core Ultra 285K is underwhelming? If you are a serious gamer or creative content creator, you never rely on the CPU onboard graphics! You buy at least a midrange discrete graphics card! For almost everything else the performance is more than AMD's equivalent CPUs, especially single core performance which is the most important since few games and apps use too many cores. The majority uses a few cores or even a single core. So to me single core performance is much more important than having tens of useless cores working much slower. Most of them are idle anyway in most apps and games.

@Ghot your tpm is not working correctly because attestation is not supported you need to update the bios.
If you have also a pin in your pc it is saved in software mode and not in tpm.
After you update your bios you need to remove the pin and recreate a new one.

Just today I upgraded a BIOS on a TUF, which never had been updated since 2020

There had been many new versions, but one of them mention the the fTPM

I would always recommend updating BIOS , there is also security reasons

I have an ASUS Prime X370-Pro motherboard that I bought in April 2017. I upgraded the CPU to an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X in 2021. I had no problem upgrading Windows 10 Pro to Windows 11 Pro.

In August 2021 there was a BIOS update that automatically configured the BIOS and enabled fTPM so that no changes were necesary to run Windows 11. However, Windows 11 would have worked with an older BIOS if made the necessary changes in the BIOS manually.

I replaced the motherboard and CPU in this computer to an ASUS Strix B550-F Gaming WiFi II. The old motherboard and CPU were moved to a computer running Windows 10 Pro. Eventually I will upgrade it to Windows 11 Pro also.

Its not possible if the TPM isn't upgradeable through a firmware flash. HP and Infineon in their infinite stupidity, decided the SLB96660 firmware couldn't be upgraded. Then again, in 2014, they couldn't have foreseen Microsoft would mandate TPM 2.0 in 2021.

That's what they want us to believe. I think they did it on purpose to make us replace our laptops with newer models. It's called planned obsolescence. Apple fans know what I'm talking about since their expensive Macs bought some years ago won't upgrade to newest Mac OS versions. Similarly for old iPhones and other Apple products. Thankfully unlike Apple products, we can bypass compatibility check and force Windows 11 on "obsolete" computers. Just to remind you that versions 24H2 and 25H2 need a CPU with SSE4.2 instructions support. This means ALL Intel Core-i3 or higher CPUs, including the first generations Core-i3 of higher CPUs and equivalent AMDs. If you have an older 64-bit system, such as an Intel Core 2 Duo, you can install up to Windows 10 22H2 or Windows 11 23H2, much better than being stuck with Windows 7 64-bit or even worse, Windows 7 32-bit.
