This tutorial will show you how to turn on or off always show scrollbars for your account in Windows 11.

Windows 11 hides most scrollbars when they are not in use by default until you hover over the scrollbar.

Contents

  • Option One: Turn On or Off Always Show Scrollbars in Settings
  • Option Two: Turn On or Off Always Show Scrollbars using REG file

3 Turn Off Always Show Scrollbars

This is the default setting.

6 Double click/tap on the downloaded .reg file to merge it.

7 When prompted, click/tap on Run, Yes (UAC), Yes, and OK to approve the merge.

8 You can now delete the downloaded .reg file if you like.

That's it,

This setting works as expected for settings app and store apps in general, but it seems it doesn't affect windows explorer and desktop programs.

edit:
It seems my comment was premature because there is another tutorial:

Thanks Brink!

For some reason this setting makes no diffence in Quatto Pro 2021. The "block" in the scrollbar just remains a tiny line and the arrows only appear if you manage to click on them. Obviously this is a very application-specific problem, but it's really strange how the scrollbars don't appear on mouseover like they do in literally every other program I've got, including the rest of the WordPerfect suite.
