Brink - Yes, understood. I didn't have the presence of mind to try to find the hack on Tenforums and went searching for it on the Interweb with Google. Apparently there was mixed feelings about the hack; that displaying seconds would put undue stress on the processor. For me, it's a good indicator that the machine is actually running.

Oh I see, so I can look forward to this being a native feature soon?
It worked on Build 25252.1010, but not on Beta 22623.1028 yet 🤷‍♂️.

I wonder how many builds Windows 11 comes in........ It seems like evert post here has a completely different menu in the settings. Like, some small hunchback in a little cave produces his individual W-11 build. Trying to return seconds to the clock has so many different ways it makes me think MS is just trying to drive us to drink with updates we just don't see. Why in the world would they remove the seconds from the task bar clock? Maybe they are super trools?

Why in the world would they remove the seconds from the task bar clock?
They removed a number of things from the Taskbar for the initial 21H2 version of 11. The Taskbar and the Start menu were rewritten from the ground up and some things just weren't ready in time. Click and drag to the Taskbar was another one that didn't make the cut. Some things made a welcome return in 22H2 but seconds on the clock isn't one of them (yet).

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.

Does "Option 2" work on every Win 11?

I've had Win 11 showing seconds in the taskbar for a while. I run Start11 which offers a selection for this.
It also shows up in the registry but I don't know if Start11 does this. I don't have the setting in the Settings app yet.
This is the Start11 config. See the setting near bottom right.

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop.

It won't. From post #1...

That means it's only available in the Insider Dev channel builds at present.
I misread the build number in post #1. :D

As an aside; @Brink Is there a tut for grouping icons/shortcuts on the taskbar?

Yeah, the seconds won't be available until Windows 11 build 25247 for now. :(

Other than some third party app, I'm not aware of a way to add the old taskbar toolbar feature back yet.
