I'd right-click the clock and choose Adjust date and time for some options. I have 2 times on my computers, local time zone and UTC/GMT. I had to work with GMT for over 30 years and comfortable with it.
I'm not aware of a way to remove that. They do show two different things. The top is a quick display of the full date while the second item is day and time. While I know of no way to remove it, you can add additional clocks as in the screenshot below.

The five 8TB drives and three 512GB SSDs are part of a DrivePool using StableBit DrivePool software. The three SSDs are devoted purely to caching for the 8TB drives. All of the important data is stored in triplicate so that I can withstand simultaneous failure of 2 disks.
