Is it possible to remove this duplicate information, leaving only one? I searched the forum and the internet and couldn't find a solution for this.

I'd right-click the clock and choose
Adjust date and time for some options. I have 2 times on my computers, local time zone and UTC/GMT. I had to work with GMT for over 30 years and comfortable with it.

I'm not aware of a way to remove that. They do show two different things. The top is a quick display of the full date while the second item is day and time. While I know of no way to remove it, you can add additional clocks as in the screenshot below.
